If he's a good instructor and someone you respect and look up to, then it's a great opportunity! How much you can gain from someone that talented depends a lot on where you're at physically, of course.

The key isn't how good the other person is, but how well they can transfer knowledge to you ... I like Rickey tons ... I know his coach and he is very good and has always been high on Rickey ... I expect to see him under 48 in the hurdles next year and low 44 in the open 400 ... Not sure how good you are but if had the opportunity to go to Florida they have an excellent sprint program ...

Along the lines of what Conway is saying, some runners just remain runners. When their careers are over, they fade away. Others become great students of their respective events, many while they are still competing. These become the John Smith's and the Earl Bell's. The great students become not only proficient in their areas, but usually learn how to impart that knowledge, because they came about a lot of that knowledge as athletes. This is not a hard and fast rule but more of a general principle. Crossing paths with someone like this could be one of life's major opportunities. Do what it takes to make the most of it.
