Unfortunately I am not surprised ... It is amazing how so many results sites are seemingly thrown together ... It is almost as if no one expects anyone outside of "their circle" to read what they have put together ... Many college and high school sites are that way unfortunately ... |

As far as significant events go, I would have thought that the advent of the internet would have been a big one for track and field ... And for a short time I believe it was ... The rapid accessability of results was a biggee !!! I remember waiting for up to a week to get the results of major track meets ...
The ability to get real time results ... OR even to "watch" events such as the 1999 Worlds in real time (Quokka Sports had an awesome web site then) ... But for whatever reason in spite of technological advances web sites are diminishing for this sport as are technological means of enjoying the sport .. I fully expected to "watch" the Olympics online ... But was not to be ... I thought the same thing for this past year's Worlds ... Still not there ...
And fewer quality sites providing results or other contect on the sport ... Have we peaked out on the net ??? |

That's an interesting question. Now more than ever, I would say that anyone who presumes to have answers about the state of the 'net doesn't have anything to say worth listening to. If anyone had the answers, we'd see some profitable content-oriented business models taking shape, not multi-million dollar losing "success" stories like Amazon.com...
Speaking of Quokka, I was told about a site last year (I think it was AthletesVillage.com or something) that managed to burn up an entire $30 or $40 million dollar IPO in an attempt to get some live, interactive athletes' coverage of the Olympics, and all they managed to do after 12 months of work was put up a temporary "under construction" page!

What a shame ... A waste of money ... Similar ot the end of last season waste of millions on sub par competitive events ... Seems that the powers that be could be so much more productive with money in this sport ... And better use of technology would be a great way to help boost the sport ... |

It truly is mind boggling. I've come to the conclusion that I shouldn't try comprehending how some people/groups can be so bad with money... To do so would require thinking, and it would appear that only a complete lack of intelligent thought could lead to such a mess, so just trying to comprehend makes you incapable of comprehending.

I agree ... But in a sport where money is such a commodity, it is almost criminal the way what money does come down the pike gets squandered and wasted !!!!! |
