Here's an idea to discourage spammers: accounts with expiration dates. Any account with less than 1 post and inactive for 6 months will be subject to automatic deletion.

That and it would require writing a script to check for under-used accounts or doing so manually on a regular basis, neither of which sounds appealing.

I've elliminated about 75% of it through filtering certain email address locales...
