Excellent. Let's hope the diagnosis is accurate and the new 'thotics solve the problem!

Here is a new injury that has nothing to do with running. Friday I was on a search at the scene of a methamphetamine lab. I was in the back of a transfer truck trailer with another agent checking some suspected chemical containers. When we finished I was crawling backwards down from the trailer. I was wearing a gas mask and it distorted my depth perception and limited my vision and I missed the last step and fell backwards from a height of about five feet onto my tail bone.

It hurt! Shocked Crying or Very sad

I was able to get up and walk but the other supervisor on the scene insisted that I go to the emergency room. The x-rays revealed no cracks or breaks but I am extremely sore and have difficulty moving in just about any way. So looks like I will not be running for a while. I hope a weeks time will be enough to recover.

'bout time one of us had an injury that's covered by worker's comp... Glad to hear the x-rays were negative. What do you figure, a deep bruise? Tail bones can be pretty sensitive to that sort of thing.

Do you work in that setting often?

As a supervisor I mostly sit at a desk or go to meetings. But several times a month I will be out in the field with the guys. And then silly stuff like this can happen. Confused

I think this is just a bad bruise.

I have been out the last two nights for slow 30 minute walks. I'm only covering a little over a mile. There is still low grade pain and I can't take a normal stride. But I can tell that there is improvement so I may still make the fall racing schedule.

Sounds a bit better, at least. Are the new orthotics in yet?

Thanks guys. The orthotics aren't in but since I can't run I'm not in a big hurry. When they do get here I'll have a nice break in period with the walking.

A little over 3 miles of walking and some slow running today.

Felt good, I'm on the road to recovery! Very Happy

Well, I think the butt injury is "behind me" so to speak. I did a little over 4 miles today at about 11:00 pace with no problems. The only time I feel a little discomfort is doing crunchs. I haven't tried situps yet but the main thing is that I am back to running!!

Tomorrow starts another experiment when I try my new orthotics for the first time.

You do listen to your body and when you do listen to your body, you can be virtually injury free.

The first run in the orthotics went well. I did a walk and run combo for 30 minutes. Tomorrow I'll try 30 minutes with no walking.
