On the men side we have Alan Webb, David Krummenacker, and Benard Lagat with several others who are making big strides in the 1500m. The women's side isn't as bright; however, with Regina (GONE), Suzy and Maryla R. pregnant who will step up for the women in the 1500m this year and in the foreseeable future (2006 and beyond)? |

McWilliams and Toomey seem the most likely candidates right now, but I'm not yet seeing international impact from them.

I think long run McWilliams will make an impact - after her Treniere Clement seems to be making great strides and I guess that all the work Sheadle has been doing is paying off.. There seems to be a lot of young mile talent (of course who knows how that will go) and then Toomey but not a lot in the middle... _________________ The long run is what puts the tiger in the cat. |

I like Toomey, but I really don't see anyone on the women's side with the capabilities of those we are losing (Jacobs, Hamilton, et al) ... I think we are headed for a drought in the women's event ...
Ironic since it seems we are finally ready to step up the the table with the big boys on the men's side ... _________________ Conway

I think the emerging one to watch on the women's side is Shalane Flanagan from North Carolina. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

In the Devers sense or the Regina sense?
I was curious to see how she'd do at Pre, but she was unfortunately one of the many that went down in the big pile.

Well now that you mention it......
Flanagan, along with McWilliams could be a big part of our future in the 1500. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

www.dyestat.com
that site should tell you about the latest and greatest HS athletes. We may have to wait 'til 2008 or 2009 or later to see some of them, but that future looks pretty good. My bet's on Doswell in 2011, if she decides to run pro. |
