we are getting a little philosophical there conway.
Can something make a noise if no one or thing is there?
Is a recepient required to qualify it?
Don't even get me started !
Einstein said speed is relative to the observer. Did powell really run that fast ? |

Of course a noise is made ... Leave an inanimate object like a voice recorder and it will pick up the sound ... Whether or not there is a person there ...
As for the relativity of Powell's performance ... He did indeed run that fast ... After all the results were recorded by a reliable instrument ... _________________ Conway

According to zenos paradox powells motion never really began as his time can be infinitely divided. So what do you have to say about that !
just kidding !
The thing is we both view the sport from a different perspective. You as a former sprinter and coach and myself as a track enthusiast (I had mixed success over 400m at high school but nothing to write home about)
based on our backgrounds your views carry more weight and I am happy to accept that. I would rather converse with someone who knows what they are talking about . |

My views carry more weight only when they are correct ... I am always open to learning more ... Andlearn something new with every meet ... Everything you say is valid ... And yes you do birng a different perspective ... And it is that perspective "the untainted eye" that often sheds new light on things ... Sometimes one can be too close to something ... Be too stuck in ones ways .... And miss the obvious !!!!! _________________ Conway
