A sucessful track athlete will make more than most normal jobs (by a good deal), but the odds of achieving that level are at best one in a million, so the only safe bet is that pursuing the sport with finances in mind is the wrong way to start out.

Tough to say with out a true pay scaloe how much a track athlete makes ... Suffice it to say that only the elite are making a great deal of money ...
MOney is made by either having a contract with a shoe company and/or appearance fees and/or race winnings ... In either case in order to get a contract you have to be near the top of your craft/event ... In order to get appearance fees you have to be near the top of your craft/event ... And in order to get race winnings you have to be near the top of your craft/event ...
So, hard for a non elite to make much money ... Pretty much a catch 22 type situation ... Which is one of the big problems with the current "professional" setup ... _________________ Conway
