I recently joined my cross country team for my high school. I joined 2 days before time trials, after everyone hade been conditioning for about 3 weeks. I Was by far the slowest kid at the time trial. i had alot of trouble running the three miles. and felt really embarassed. I am now really depressed becuase i am so much slower than everyone else. i am trying to improve but am not sure i can do it fast enough. dooes anyone have any advice? |

Yes, hang in there. Keep running and listening to your coach and you will improve. Don't get into a big hurry, and judge your performance not by how it compares to your teammates but by how much it is improving. You are going to do just fine. When my daughter started high school cross country she was one of the slowest on the team. She improved consistently and went on to run xc and track in college. So stay optimistic and don't give up. And by all means, keep us posted on your progress. You are a runner and you are welcome here at the forum. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Also, understand that you started at a disadvantage ... So it is going to take a bit of time for you to catch up ... As Micah said, just take your time and have a bit of patience ... You will find that if you stick with your program the improvement will come ... How fast you are at the beginning of the season is not nearly as important as how fast you are at the end ... _________________ Conway
