|
|
A couple days ago I ran a 10 k race with some mates. It was a round course of 2 K, so we had to pass 5 times the fiishing line. There was an announcer who commented on the conditions of the runners. I had the honour to be twice his victim:
- Look at his face, he doesn't enjoy running
- Come on smile, running is fun
I thought by myself f... bastard: running is never fun, it's deadly serious as it is with training ...
Talking to friends it seems I am pretty alone with my attitude. I seriously wonder: Am I mad?
How much fun do you have?
Regards

I'd of gone over and kicked the announcer's butt, personally.
Running is fun when it's going well, painful business otherwise.
I've only known one person to consistently smile while running hard...

Haile G.? He was smiling when he passed Tergat in the Olympic 10,000 m finals, even though he was sprinting his guts out. |

Smiling in this phase could also mean: facial palsy , it doesn't necessarily mean you have fun |

I've never thought of Geb's racing expression as a smile so much as a horse with flaired nostrils and lips pulled back over the gums...
