I haven't seen anything.
I bet Sacramento is depleted of ice and gatorade tonight.

My final thoughts on the trials:
I hope Conway is right with the AJ/Milburn comparison.
Crawford had us fooled! He will medal in the 100 and 200.
Webb is without a doubt the class of American milers. Just remains to be seen how he does on the world stage. I predict he will do like Pre in Munich and Kennedy in Atlanta. He will make a splash and run with the leaders but fall just out of the medals in the end.
Dragilia is back. She had the hip height on her WR attempts, she just needs to adjust her approach to the bar. I predict gold.
Deena Kastor won the 10K but she is also on the marathon team. If she concentrates on the marathon she will produce our surprise medal of this Olympics.
Prior to the trials I was unaware of Felix and Wariner. Great looking kids and Felix seemed very mature for an 18 year old in her interview. I think we have two more medals with these guys.

Runyan has a B qualifier ... Suzy has lost a lot of respect ... To not even run was ridiculous, and the rules need to be changed to prevent that ... You should have to compete in the final in order to use your previous qualifying mark ... Marion could have done the same in the long jump ... And there were a few other cases during the meet - like the men's 1500 where athletes could make the team without competing in the final ... That is a travesty ...
I think Crawford has a lot of people fooled - including collectors and testers ... Oops, I didn't say that ... But I don't think he will improve between now and the Trials ... As a matter of fact I think he will get worse ... He regressed during the Trials as he started to get more and more comfortable with his strength ... He'll be a factor, but I don't expect him to be dominant ...
I have a strong feeling that Webb is going to medal ... His confidence level is so high you can see it and feel it ... I keep telling distance runners that they need to be more like sprinters - just like Webb ... _________________ Conway

That qualification process irks me, too. Makes a mockery of a championship qualifying meet.
Remember, I said after the Pre meet, Crawford is this year's Dwain Chambers.

Yeah ... Unfortunately I have to agree about Crawford ... And sadly makes me wonder about Gatlin too ...
I hate the selection process ... If you have a selection meet then make it a selection meet ... Top 3 - period !!! _________________ Conway

Marla was at least open about it. She said she just didn't have it mentally and that she feels she will regret this for the rest of her life. Suzy didn't even bother to toe the line. Touchy hamstring was the reason. She will be a no show at Athens, psychologically. This event is as ripe as any for the entrance of new blood, but I just don't see a lot of young women ready to explode into sub 4:05 territory. Even Slaney probably could have made this team!! _________________ Paul

It does seem that 4:10 has become the national standard in the event. With how aggressive Regina always was as a domestic racer, I wonder if her absence has sapped the life from the 1500?

This race is at the point where the next American "star" is still in high school !!! There is no one out there right now who is ready to step up and run what needs to be run ... I might even venture to say that the event may go through the same doldrums the men's event went through post Steve Scott/Sydney Maree/Jim Spivey !!! I see no one on the horizon ... _________________ Conway

The future is probably Tiffany McWilliams and Shalane Flannagan. Both are turning pro after their junior year in college and both have run 4:11 so far. They have several more years of improvement ahead of them and it will be interesting to see how far they can develop. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

I woul like to believe that ... But 4:11 is quite a way off from the 4:01/4:02 they need to be to just be competive - let alone the sub 4:00 area that they need to be to be looking at medal contention ...
I kinda thought that Teter might be the next top level mid distance runner ... And maybe she will ... But I don't think that she has the heart to run the 1500 at that level - I think she runs it more to strengthen her 800 ...
Also thought that perhaps Culpepper could also be the one, but I think she favors the longer races ...
And Swald was also a favorite of mine to move in but something is missing there too ... And Runyan is ok but more the 5000 type ...
So we'll see what happens ... I hope you're right ... But I just feel like we're gonna have a void for a while ... _________________ Conway
