I was tired, but not spent. Took a light 30 minute run yesterday. The main reason for leaving Lake Oswego is because of the track congestion. No one gives a hoot about the runners when soccer or football is going on. People walk right in front of you. Parking with the construction is impossible. Tuesday was swim tryouts plus soccer and rally. There had to be 500 on the track, milling around. The workout was moved over to the Jr High where they ran portions of the cross country course. I had told Susan I would help her with a tempo run, which obviously didn't go off as planned. Plus, I am getting tired of the same training every Tuesday.
The people I am running with for awhile are more focused. Looks like there won't be any noticeable break in my faster than race pace training. This is just another example of making the jump to another level.
And, you are exactly right. There's got to be a direct correlation from running hard and fast at Tryon to XC where traversing uneven ground at a high rate of speed becomes a technical feat.

Those sound like very good reasons for a change of scenery.
There are few places I know of better than Tryon for preparing you for XC races, so I imagine you're in good hands.

Paul, if you check in here before tomorrow, good luck in your first real XC race! I'm sure you were studying all the intricacies at the meet today.
