Well that kind of sucks...
Today when we were running, our bags were broken into. My TI-83 calculator and CD player (w/ the best CD ever) were stolen, which is about 180 bucks or so. I lost pretty much the most out of everyone, but they took pretty much anything of value. Luckily they didn't take my books and glasses. Other people lost money, cell phones, etc.
The workout was pretty long, but I wasn't able to do all of it because of this problem. I'm sure the a-holes (pardon my French) are smokin up the profits right now. _________________ November 9th... |

Sorry to hear about: a) the stuff getting stolen :t-: and b) your presence at Ducks games being worse than the SI cover jinx.
I was talking with my neighbor yesterday (also an OSU alum and ardent supporter) about the Ducks win over Michigan last week. He was adamant that a win is a win and all the talk of them barely holding on doesn't matter. I pointed out that that's only true if it doesn't affect how they play the next week... I'm guessing he understands what I was getting at now.

Talk about great weather! Running can be pretty enjoyable when you aren't struggling with the elements as I have been for the past four months or so. Instead of telling my body "Don't stop, Don't walk,..." I can concentrate on "Go faster, Turn the legs faster, ..." because I don't have to worry about getting tired from the heat. We did about 7 miles or so across some pretty big hills, and I felt really strong throughout the entire workout. I would have liked to know my pace, but I guess it's not very important. Hopefully the weather stays exactly like this and the days of high-80s are over until next June. _________________ November 9th... |

I think it's safe to say we won't have too many more 25 degree temperature drops over a two day span this year.

Did it even get to 70 today? The paper said it was supposed to get to 80, but I know it wasn't anywhere close to that. Watching a college football game in 95 degree temps isn't too fun, especially when you're getting your ass kicked.
What did you do today? You passed us around 3:30 and it looked like you had built up a little sweat. Feeling better? _________________ November 9th... |

I forgot to glance at the sign with the temp readout when I ran by, so I guessed 74.
I *felt* better today, but I didn't run any better. I was hoping to do a couple loops around the park and felt much better the first 2 miles, but I quickly ran out of gas. First time in nearly two weeks my legs haven't been painfully tight, but I was severely lacking in energy, strength, endurance, stride rhythm, and breathing smoothness. I guess I've got a few checklist items left to work on...

That must suck considering how nice it's getting. You seem to not have the best of luck with staying healthy, which is pretty unfortunate. Hopefully things will turn around soon for you. _________________ November 9th... |

Huh? I thought the weather's taking a turn for the worse.

Believe it or not, this is perfectly healthy by my standards -- healthiest I've been in 5+ years -- just not running well at the moment.

Today was pretty fun. Instead of just having a long slow run, our coach put together a kind of scavenger hunt type thing. It was pretty cool and my group won! We were annoyed because she gave our prize (donuts) to another team because they said we cheated. We proved we didn't, so we'll get donuts tomorrow.
Saturday will be our fist meet in about 10 days, so I hope I didn't lose any rhythm. I guess the Champoeg meet is supposed to be pretty big which could help or hurt. It'd be perfect if the weather was like it was today (65 and cloudy for those that don't live here). I think I run at two, so i'm really hoping the sun stays away. _________________ November 9th... |

Scavenger hunt runs brings back painful memories... Paul, next time you bump into coach Lider, ask him about it. That's where he cemented his reputation for mismeasurement and mind numbing directions...
From what I know of Champoeg, it should be a pretty fast course. You guys have been racing a lot, so I'd look at the 10 day break as a welcome rest and not a concern for losing rhythm.

I think the catch is that too many donut workouts turn you into a donut working out.

I took quite a long respite from posting partly because I had a lot of school work, and partly because I didn't have any good news to post. But as an active forum member, I'll give a brief overview of my last few weeks.
XC practice is still going strong. Today we did 4 X 800 and 4 X 400 and "goal race pace". I did the 8s around 2:55 and the 4s around 80. Definitely too fast for my "race pace", but I could care less. Everyday I work my ass off and always finish above guys that are running around 19:40-20:00. They don't even finish the workouts, but I usually do more. Keep in mind, these guys were doing 21:30 at the beginning of the year and don't have a great work ethic.
I've had three meets since the last time I posted. The first one was in 20:20 (a second off my PR), the second in 20:30 (I did the first mile in 6:20 and felt really good, but because I knew we had a huge meet two days later I slowed down). The third one was a jog in 21:15 on a course about 100-140 meters longer than 5k. The reason I jogged it was because my race was the 8th of the day. By the time my race was starting, I had been at the sports complex for about 5 hours and just wanted to get home. Oh well. Not that I cared because I was too busy watching Galen Rupp run the 5.1k course in 15:05. That was truly amazing. I can't wait to see how he does at Nationals.
Right now I have two meets left on a fairly easy course. It won't upset me if I can't break 20, and I doubt I'll do XC next year. Oh well, it was an OK experience, but too many things annoyed me.
I have cemented in my head that I CAN run sub 2:10 next year, and I really look forward to getting back on the track and running 200s in 32 and 300s in 48-49 to get prepared. I'm using a plethora amount of sources to help form a schedule for this fall and winter. Don't be surprised if I have quite a few questions that I need answers to or clarifications on things. _________________ November 9th... |

Sorry to hear that XC isn't working out for you...but everyone has different tastes. Relax and have fun those last two races and who knows how fast you might do them.
Will you be running an indoor track season? _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |
