This is a pretty tightly knit little neighborhood, and I've gotten to know most of the people on my street (all 6 houses) pretty well.

With interest rates and real estate values, a lot of people have sold homes to move up to something nicer for about the same cost as their old mortgage. That may well explain the exodus in your 'hood.

Josh Davis. He went to Salem Academy and U of Wyoming.

Which OC team was it?

I think '95 would have been her senior year, and as far as I know, they were #1 in the nation at least one of those years (was a pretty regular occurrence).

We started with our usual warmup which is about 700 meters or so and then did stretching/drills for about 20 minutes. We then took off towards Schurman (I think that's how it was spelled) Hill. We got on River Road and ran about a mile on it to Schurman. Because it was hot, our coach was at the bottom of the hill to give us water if we needed it. I took a little cup worth and was then on my way. I underestamated the hill and didn't really take the warm conditions into account. The hill was incredibly steep and just kept going. I had to slow down to a fast walk once or twice to take a little breather. I finally made it to Candalaria Elem School and got a little more water. From CES I ran back to the track at Bush Park. Surprisingly, I ended up passing a few people on the way back.

Our 12-minute run was scrapped for a "timed mile". But she told us to do it easy if we wanted, so I thought that defeated the purpose of timing it. I ended up getting about a three minute break and felt pretty good before the start. It was VERY windy on the backstretch so I struggled through that. I ended up crossing through the 1600m mark in 6:38. That was faster than my pace Saturday even with the 4 mile hard run and warm conditions. I still can't believe I ran so slowly on Saturday. Oh well, time to look forward to Wednesday.

Ooh, I think I know where you ran... Candalaria is the school on Hansen, right? If that's the one I'm thinking of (connects up with Acacia and drops down to Minto-Brown Park), it's a real doozy. That's the route I ran a week or two ago out to Minto that nearly did me in. Paul knows those hills...

It definitely was windy today, although I only got outside to check the mail. Neutral

Yep, that's the hill all right. It was a real doozy considering it was the first time I've ever seen it. I'm sure it'd be pretty fun to bike down though.

Our meet on Wednesday is pretty interesting. What we do is divide into groups of five and each person in the group runs a 3k. That makes it more of like a workout than an actual race. She hasn't divided us up yet, but I'm sure she will tomorrow. I think we only run once, but I'm not positive.

We weren't scheduled to have anything this weekend, but now we have three options. Option 1: Do nothing like was originally planned. Option 2: Run at Trask. (Costs 5 bucks) Option 3: Run a 5k race at Minto Brown to help benefit child abuse or something. (Costs 15 bucks) I don't know which I'll do. I want to do something though.

Although I heard that if you finish Trask you get a TShirt. Not a bad deal. I'm guessing finishing trask would be quite an accomplishment by itself.

If it's a nice day, you can make an afternoon of it. Just remember to pack a sandwhich. Smile

Or I can go to Big Town Hero and get my patented 8" Turkey on white w/ no tomatoes and no pepperencinnis with nacho cheese doritos and a 20oz Dr. Pepper. I had one of those tonight and it's my favorite meal. I get it about 3 times a week, so I consider myself quite lucky.

We weren't scheduled to go to Trask because our coach didn't want us to. The WS coach offered, so if 10 people want to go we'll take a bus up with them.

Trask, wow! The idea would just to go and have fun. And plan on getting filthy muddy. Don't wear decent shoes, you'll be throwing them away afterward, anyway.

Ah, so it is the Flying M. That's what I was thinking, but I wasn't positive. Very challenging and slow course. I get the impression the course is never the same, either.

Well, just got done with the meet but I won't make this too long considering it wasn't a usual meet.

There were only 3 teams at the meet at BP (West Salem and Sprague), so it was pretty interesting to see only three teams after having 18 teams at the meet Saturday. I was in the 2nd best group and ended up running the 2nd leg (everyone ran a 3k). The course was pretty easy even though we had to run up "suicide hill". I don't know my split yet, but my teams time was 23:56 after I finished. Because I felt pretty good, I'm thinking that means I ran somewhere between 11:45-12:15. Sprague's coach said he'll post the results tonight or tomorrow, so I'll check then.

I was VERY surprised I ran well considering the 85 degree heat. My team ended up getting 5th overall with a time of 60:30. We had two guys run around 12:40 which prevented us from breaking 60. I was also pretty disappointed with 5th because I made up about a 50 meter gap and gave our third runner a 50 meter lead on the team which ended up finishing fourth. Our best team lost by .2 seconds to Sprague. They had a 33 second lead when they handed off, but Sprague's last leg was the league winner last year and will probably be 20th or so at state. Overall it was a fun meet that was (thankfully) really short because every team started at the same time.

BTW, I can't go to Trask on Saturday because my uncle is taking me to the Ducks game! Very Happy Hopefully there won't be a letdown, but you never can tell with the Ducks. I went to the Stanford game two years ago when they lost. That was Harrington's last year and the year we went 11-1 and finished #2 in the country. I hope my presence isn't bad luck this time.

It was nice and warm today, to be sure. 84 when I ran. Not your typical ducky weather. Smile

Dan, how stupid of me to forget. For a person who loved to find the muddiest trail in Tryon, Trask would be right up your alley. I hope you haven't gotten too civilized as you approach 30. Wink

Me, civilized? Rolling Eyes

The only time I ran XC at Linfield, the meet was held in some wide open park near campus. Never witnessed the beauty of Trask firsthand...
