| He got the last qualifying spot but he did it. An American made the final. I think this is a great confidence boost for him and he will be ready for next years olympics. Go USA!!! |

He does seem to be the guy carrying the torch now. Let's hope his stay at the top is a bit longer than Goucher's!

With Culpepper announcing he is gearing for the Marathon, this could open the event for some other runners. Sometimes the first year out of college can be a real down transitional year.
Of course, the first year out of high school can be a real transitional year, too (Webb) !! |

Great for Torres!!! With the way he has faired in junior XC races in the past he may be the one who finally gets US distance running some respectability.

The unique thing about Jorge is how successful he's been at each level and how quickly he adapts with each step up. That's a promising sign.

I'll give you the first 3, but I think replacing Torres with Geb, Tergat, Hissou, Komen, Kiptanui, or someone with similar credentials might rank higher on the all-time great matchup list...
