No Canadians likely to be in this final, so you can rest easy.

I thought about that, but he'll be doing well to make the semis, let alone advance. From what I've seen of him, he'd be a much stronger competitor in the 200m.

You maybe technically correct, murdoch took us citizenship some years ago, but he is an aussie through and through. |

I've never heard him talk, so I wouldn't have known otherwise.

Uh, take a look at heat 5, lane 8 in the women's 400m prelims.
If that's not proof enough that the entry standards need changing, then I don't know what is. Either that's a serious typo, or we've got a High School JV runner in the World Championships.

Heat5, lane8. A maldivian runner who has not run in a recognised meet or is running her first serious 400m?.
That is why i feel the championships should be for elite athletes only, and for this only a very strict A-standard qualifying time.
No disrespect to the maldivian runner, it is not her decision but the iaaf have taken away a valuable lane from a runner who could have done well in the championship.
If it means we will get an imbalance in the countries being represented so be it. Their has to be an upper limit of say 6 athletes any country can field per event and if it means 6 americans in each sprint, then good.
Who wouldn't want to watch a final featuring gatlin, capel and patton in the 100m. They should be there as they have proven their world class ability, but that is not going to happen because they have to allocate a space for reginald from the comoros islands who has a hand-timed best off 11.5 sec at the annual comoros fair. |

Ditto ... Unfortuantely too many others feel differently ... I had always hoped that the Worlds would become a true championships and let the feel good stuff stay with the Olympics ... _________________ Conway
