I thought that if I started running at 6:00 a couple days a week, it might get into my routine. The idea being that if I'm used to running that early, then a race at 8:00 wouldn't be so bad. I often have to race in the moring and I notice that I do much better in the evening. Maybe this could make me adjust to early running.
Then again, I've been getting up early to go to school since I was four years old and I still havn't adjusted to that  |

That's a good point. Many XC races are very early (almost exclusively in college), so if you're used to morning runs, you'll be much better off come race day. Being a hit or miss morning runner myself, I never did much care for those early XC races. Of course, running XC in the heat of the day isn't much fun, either...
