Exactly
Just did 4 in the heat...90 degrees 58% humidity for a 96 heat index.

Can't say I've heard that expression before, but I'm not entirely sure what the vowel is...

Drossin wins the womens 10K so no suprise there.
The top 3 in the men's was no suprise in Culpepper, Meb and Dan Browne except that I would have thought Meb would have been in 1st.
The women's 800 looks to be very interesting. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Marla wins the 5K as expected.
I was pleased to see my dark horse, Broe, win the mens 5K. I was also very pleased to see Goucher do so well and Torres right there with them. If Goucher stays healthy those three could be the cream of the crop for us in the 5K for several years. Of course Meb has his place with them but he may stay up in the 10K range and then shoot for the marathon. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

I forgot the coverage was on today, but as luck would have it, I checked the TV listing at exactly 1:00 and turned it on just as coverage was beginning.
What the heck was Dan O'Brien trying to say at the start of the women's 400h? Talk about incomprehensible. Then the event itself turns strange, with Glover seemingly thinking it was a 360m race, and Raasin's (is that really her name??) victory interview sounding more and more like an Oscar acceptance speech by the passing minute...
Does Montgomery strike anyone as looking less fit this year? He was very convincing in saying Mo doesn't matter to him. Bernard Williams looked the strongest I've seen him in a while, but the slowish times make it tough to really guage. Surprise at JJ Johnson's slow start? Uh, what did they expect?
Watching the women's 100m final, I was thinking it sure looked like Inger out-leaned Gail at the finish despite what the announcers were saying. Interesting to see that it was protested and was only confirmed by a reverse angle photofinish view...
Anyone know what Kelli White's minor injuries are? They sure didn't show.
Tyree Washington looks really strong. The Minnesota kids definitely look like hoopsters, but they seemed to run out of gas by 200-300m. Of the collegians, Kearny's Texas kids seemed to be the least affected by all the recent racing.
Was it just me or did it seem like the commentators were getting more tongue tied than usual. Lots of thoughts just sort of trailed off as they realized there was nowhere to go with them...
From the category of questionable comments: I think it was O'Brien who said Gail and her coach feel she hurdles her best when she's running well in the open 100m Uh, I'd be very interested in seeing what sort of stats support that opinion. Seems to me she's done her best hurdling the past couple seasons when she's been focusing exclusively on it. Last time she spilt time between the two, she won the 100m and tripped in the 100h...

Great meet so far despite the slow times ...
Bernard looks like he did in 1999 ... Real solid through the rounds ... And strong at the end of his races ... He is going to make the 200 squad the way he is looking ... A decent turn in the final (I'm assuming he makes the final) and he will be on the team ...
JJ has talent but his eyes say he is not ready for this level of comp yet ... He had that Tim Montgomery look in his eyes - I'm good but can I really beat these guys ....
Tim looks like Tim ... Scattered and really unsure despite all the talk ... I would have been very surprised if he had won that race ... He had trouble in his semi ... Start is the same as ever and despite finishing fast he is not finishing strong ...
Felix is out to prove something ... Ran harder in her round today than she really needed to ... Especially with the wind which blew steadiy in the face today ... Hopefully tomorrow it will switch again ...
Kelli White looks so strong close up ... She has no peer right now ... .Period ... I have no idea what he injuries are ... Have heard nothing abotu injuries ... She's just dominating everyone right now ... Maybe her back is hurting form pulling em all along ...
Gail looks good ... Fit but different and I can't put my finger on it yet ... And REgina Jacobs almost looks sick ... Regina is so tiny to begin with ... /but she almost looks gaunt ...
Talk regarding MO and Tim is something else .... Tim got little respect to start with ... None after not winning ... Speculation if rife with MO running away with the gold in Paris ... He best do real well in the deuce ... Gatlin gone bye bye ... Not in the deuce ... No one quite sure why ... But doesn't look good for him ..
200 should be great tomorrow ... Not much to say about the distance guys ... We will have a team .... _________________ Conway

I know what you mean about JJ. Had a bit of a, "I'm just happy to be here" look. Speaking of which, I saw a classic line last night while watching a "making of" documentary from Do The Right Thing. They were going around the room introducing the main actors to each other, and Bill Nunn, aka Radio Rahim, introduces himself and adds, "I'm not the Denver Broncos, but I'm just happy to be here."
I saw in the posted results after the TV coverage ended that Felix ran the fastest time of the day in the 200 prelims. Very impressive. Beating Kelli White tomorrow will be very tough, though. She does look very, very powerful and under control, and the 200 should be her specialty...

I noticed when they showed her sitting down before the race that she looked even skinnier than normal, especially in the arms. It's disgusting how tiny she is in person. The camera really does add 10 pounds (at least)...

Conway, I saw in the results that the mens Masters 200 had times from 22 to 27.
What do you think? Incentive to train?
If Kelli White is hurt then how good is she going to be when she is well?
I saw the coverage and it wasn't all that great...just typical. In the post race interviews it was apparent that Regina and Suzy don't like each other anymore than Mo and Tim do.
For the distance guys at Worlds it will be the same old story. The ladies have a much better chance at medals than the men. Look for Drossin, Runyan and Teeter to medal. Regina I am not sure of...it seems she does well at nationals then always finds a reason not to do anything internationally. K'nacher will be the only mens medal outside the sprints. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

My take is that Regina doesn't respect Suzy and Suzy doesn't like Regina, for what it's worth.

Regina and Suzy stay away from each other around the track ... No love l ost there and you can see it ... Regina looks almost anorexic ... I think her problem is by the time she its over seas her immune system is shot !!! She is so "fit" she is almost "weak" if I am making any sense ...
Like I said Felix ran hard yesterday .. She clearly wants the victory ... But Kelli is a "stud" right now .... Will be a hell of a final ...
I gotta run ... Gonna be late if I don't ... I'll post later ... _________________ Conway

What's with all the qualifiers being by place (as opposed to a mix of place and time)? I don't think I've ever seen that before in a championship meet.
Mo better get his act together in the final, 'cause he's barely scraping by in the 200m rounds... JJ looks to be getting in gear, though.
Blazing fast women's 100h semi. Did they run it with a tailwind?

Alan Webb 10th, 10 seconds slower than in high school... Not looking to be Nike's best investment ever. I figured Michigan would be bad for him, but I didn't think it would have such a lasting effect...
Nice to see a few Oregon connections make the team ... Brian Berryhill and Becky Holiday (next in the long line of PV babes).
Kelli White definitely not messing around this weekend... Couple 'a youngsters will be representing in Paris -- Allyson Felix and Bershawn Jackson.
The women's 100h must've been quite a race. 12.61 to 12.74 for 1st through 5th, with 6th in 12.84, all that into a slight headwind!
Mo no mo'... Decent running by the other 200m finalists, though.

Webb was a big disapointment. I wonder if anyone at Nike is questioning that decision. But I do hope that he develops and lives up to the hype eventually.
I know exactly what Conway is talking about with Regina's fitness. I don't know how it works with sprinters but in the distance world there is a paradox about training the body to such a peak of fitness that the stress of the training does weaken the immune system and then you get sick. It is a very fine line to tread.
And regarding the masters 200.........Conway.........? Do we see you there in a year or two? _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |
