Milrose on ESPN tonight. Or this afternoon for you guys on the left coast. What can we expect, I haven't even looked at the start lists. Guess I'll do that. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Drug test at Milrose...oooh...I like that.
Does look funny how she seems to miss so many big meets. But the rest of the races look interesting. Glad I will be home in time to watch it. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Oh yeah...another thing. Why isn't Webb running? Isn't this what he left school for? _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

I think he left school because that wasn't working...

From what I hear on other more popular, but much less intelligent (usually) message boards, Webb is going to run an 800 at the University of Florida this weekend. Talk is he'll be shooting for around 1:48 _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

Mrs Ward and I are watching the Milrose right now. She asked how much the coaches of these athletes make a year and who pays them. Do the athletes like Mo and Stacy pay their coaches or do shoe companies or some one else pay them? I thought it was an interesting question. Anyone know the answer? _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

I think they're generally paid by the athletes, probably similar to the percentage that agents and reps get. Some of the more successful coaches also likely have sponsors such as shoes and apparel.

If I rwemember correctly NIke pays Webbs coach ... So I think it is both ways ... Shoe companies pay or the athlete sets em up on some kind of percentage take .... Marion is now looking for a coach .... Which I hazzard to guess means she will be doing the paying ... And since Nike apparently had no knowledge of who was coaching her it would seem that that is the case in her situation ... Would probably depend on how much the athlete makes AND how many athletes a coach has in a "stable" ... I am going to try to ask a few people and find out though .... _________________ Conway

Yeah, Raczko (sp? -- I probably missed a few consonants in there) got I believe $25k per year in Webb's deal. I think that was a rather unique deal, though, with his contract being attached singly to the one set up with Webb. The only other coach sponsorships I can think of seem to be more through a club of elite athletes, and even then I'm not positive there's true sponsorship there...
Speaking of Milrose, how 'bout that Gail Devers???
Hopefully, we've seen the last of "SloMo" for the year...

I was watching the Milrose games and saw an athlete with a very familiar name. Erin Belger (sp? on the last name). She didn't do very well, but that name is bugging me. They said she had run in college for Cal. I really want to say that I remeber her being from NM and that she went to Sandia high school. But for some reason I think I could be getting her confused with a girl that was maybe a footlocker champion or something along those lines. Anybody know who she is and where she's from? _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

Wached the games what there was of them, mostly a waste of two hours. Maybe this afternoon will be better. _________________ A CLOSED MOUTH GATHERS NO FOOT. |

That bad, huh? NBC isn't known for out-doing ESPN in terms of T&F coverage...

ESPN's coverage wasn't that bad when you take into account what T&F coverage is normally like. NBC spent too much time today showing races that ESPN showed last night. So if you watched both then at least half of today's coverage was a repeat. Random thoughts:
Devers was awesome.
Trammell should do real well this year.
Dragila is back.
Lagat should challenge El G this year. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |
