Can't argue with anything on the 400.
For the 800 did Teeter do enough early to put her in 1st? Mutola?
No particular guy comes to mind.
BTW Dan, I like all that wood and book shelves. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Thanks. If I'm not carful, I might become a trinket guy with all that shelving space.
Teter would probably be my #3 behind Mutola and Ceplak. Like the 200, it's a bit tough to rank an event that was contested so sporadically. For the men, Kipketer, Krummenacker, and ??? Borzo or Kimuthai, perhaps?

Yeah ... The 800 sounds good ... I think I might be inclined to go for Kimuthai for that 3rd spot for the men ...
And trinkets can be a good thing ... Personally I have a collection of porcelain clowns ... Started after Ben beat Carl in Rome !!! Gave me such a grin I decided to keep it around permanent !!! So started collecting the clowns !!!!
So I think the distance folk should start the conversation about the distance events ...

Are you saying one of them (Ben or Carl) is a clown, or that you found a porcelain clown of one of them? :question: My mortgage agent has a huge Pez dispenser collection on his office mantle...
DG, coachd, Micah, Paul, ellen, Hammer, et al, you're up!

I've been pretty busy lately so the only "research" I've done is to look at the Fantasy League standings.
The men's 1500 is a no brainer:
1. El G
2. El G
3. El G
Honorable Mention and thanks for participating, Bernard Lagat
Women's 1500 and 3000:
No one really stood out in my mind. Turova led the standings in the 1500 and Andere in the 3000. But no one really stood out and some of the usual names had off years. Sekely was the biggest dissapointment and Szabo had some good races but nothing dominating.
Correct me if I am wrong guys. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Sureyya Ayhan was the dominant 1500m runner of the year, despite her sparse schedule. Front-running wins in the EC (from Szabo), Berlin (from Hamilton), Brussels (from Turova) and the World Cup gave her 3 of the 4 fastest times of the year and a 100% record.
At 3000m Szabo ran a European record in the best race of the year (in Monaco) and was just pipped by Adere by 0.01 in the second best (in Brussels). Adere was 4th in Monaco but won in Zurich and at the World Cup; Szabo in the European Cup and St Denis (Adere 2nd). Hard to call but I'd probably give it to Szabo.

Yeah ... I'd have to go with Ayhan and Szabo in hte 1500 and 3000 respectively ... Best of the lot ...
Lagat would lbe runner up in the men's 1500 .. Not sure if there was enough action on the men's side in the 3000 ... Will have ot wait to discuss the steeple ...

Shame on me, I hardly paid any attention to the distance races this year . I was focusing on watching Krummenacker in the 800 and El G in the mile. But that 10,000 in Brussels was really something. Unfortunatly the 10k was really only ran once all year so I can only rank them by the results of that race, even though there were several runners that were so close had they run the race again the results could have flip floped a good bit.
10k
1) Sammy Kipketer
2) Assefa Mezgebu
3) Richard Limo _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

We can probably go ahead and rank marathoners even though we still have New York to go. It is hard to imagine anyone topping KK or Radcliffe.
Catherine Ndereba would be a good second choice for the women and I want to wait and see what Marla Runyan does at NY before picking a third.
For the guys Gebraseliese (sp) and Tergat. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

I would think Tergat ahead of Geb. Didn't Tergat beat him in London? That and the additional Chicago race gives him a better looking year.

Well Track and Field's governing body anounced their athletes of the year. And to the surprise of nobody around here Paula Radcliffe and El G won.

That's becasue we have a rather elite group here !!!! I was rather shocked however that Montgomery was an overwelming second and had much for the top spot ... This off of one race basically ... _________________ Conway
