Contest:
___Each Month Until March (November, December, January, and February) we wil vote for the winner(s) of each event in WIC. For our votes to count you have to post them and e-mail to me indeur@aol.com Subject: 2003: WIC. Each right pick will get you a point that will be multiplied by the number of whole months that remain plus 1.
E.g. November ---> 4 X 1 or January 2 x 1
Let say that you have three correct picks for three months, and six for February.
You will get 3x4 + 3x3 + 3X2 + 6x1 = 12 + 9 + 6 + 6 OR 33 oints.
As to the poll -- please feel free to ask me add someone else to the list.

I assume WIC (or IWC) refers to the World Indoor Championships? Why 200m? Aside from it being Urbas' event, I consider it the mockery of Indoor T&F because of the laned banking...

It is about the worst event indoors ... But Urbas will not win it ... A yet to be named individual will ... American or FRedericks ... _________________ Conway

..Yes, Urbas and Jedrusinski are part of the reason. The other part is that over the last three years 200 m has not been monoracial (Kenteris, Little, and Nagel...). The last is that it is very entertaining when held indoors.
...I agree that the inherent "curve problem" prohibits it from being a fair competition, unless held in 4 lanes (just four finalists) or in two parts (4 lanes/finalists x 2 runs).
...It will show, as well, how do the Indoor European Champion and Silver Medalist (Urbas and Malcolm) and Obikwelu compare against each other and against World Champion Crawford and another American, and how well can young Nagel run in a major competition....
...I want to see Jedrusinski keep on improving ( outdoor 20.31s PB).

Indeurr, please keep this thread to a single post. This is the third identical one you've started now (2nd of 3, actually)...

Given that the indoor race is so vastly different from the outdoor event, the indoor race says nothing about the outdoor one ... Not wanting to offend, but the indoor race is a bastardization of the event ...
And as far as the race being "monoracial" times mean nothing ... None of the afore mentioned sprinters has done a thing racing against others with the exception of Kenteris' once a year appearances ...
If you want to discuss something, then let's discuss it ... Just not sure what you are trying to get at ... _________________ Conway

___I know that 4-men final or 2 x 4-person final will not happen. However, I know that 6 4-person quaterfinals and 3 4-person semifinals may happen, and if the lane assignment is based on the3 4-person semifinal results (times), then it seems fair. |

Which could be why I'm having a bit of a hard time figuring out what's being talked about...

___I am getting at nothing -- just repling to your comments.
___If you want do delete this thread all-together -- I have no beef with that, go ahead.
___I admit that the poll subject is poorly chosen.
___I think that it should be about entire 2003 Indoor Championships, and not just mens' 200 m.
__I will edit my initial message. |
