True about the drug usage. I operate out of a drug-free mindset. To me, it never even occurs as a variable. There's a lot of speculation, but, I know people at different levels in the sport (high school, college, professional, elite) and there are some, but few, who last without rumors of drugs. Ironically, some of the most successful and visible athletes (Geb and Tergat) SEEM to have made it without drugs, but, like I said, I'm an optimist and I try to see the best in people.
On the Kenyans and drills: I ran with the Olympic Team in Hattiesburg before '96, and, they were pretty actively involved with different routines, but, their "warming up" routines involve dynamic stretching and general fitness exercises, whereas, like you said, the other two I mentioned are geared towards formal drills and plyos. |
