Is it just me, or does anyone else think that Greene is one hell of an actor? That had to be one of the most anti-climatic events I have ever seen. I do believe Johnson was hurt though. Too bad. I would have liked to have seen him run the 200 in the Olympics.

Definitely anti-climactic, but I don't think either was faking it in this case. It looked to me like Greene realized things didn't feel right and eased off before risking serious damage. He actually started grimacing a stride or two before pulling up, despite NBC's (Lewis Johnson) "pinpoint" spotting of when he started to feel it.
MJ has a history of very questionable injuries surrounding hyped up events that pose a significant challenge. This time looked like a genuine injury. I don't see Greene backing away from a challenge. He's one sprinter that's not afraid to risk losing, although he obvoiusly doesn't like doing so.

It's hard to say. I have watched replays of the tape(I have no life, I guess), and Greene definately appeared to be behind before he pulled up lame. But like you said, maybe he was feeling the pain already at that point. Who knows. I would like to see them race again though. Maybe a match race. NBC sure could create some hype for it. That's all they've done so far.

Greene did look to be struggling early, and even MJ wasn't chewing up the turn like normal. Very strange race. I doubt we'll ever see them race again, especially after reading MJ's interview on nbcolympics.com today saying he is through with running the 200. He has too much to lose, and that seems to be what motivates him, although he'd never say it quite that way.

The 200 m are coming back with the British, Fredericks, and Kenteris. Of course, the 200m/400m almost certainly will have to wait a long time for another M.J.
Some time ago, I predicted at IAAF forum that for the last year Euros to win one will need to go sub 20, I was right. I predicted, as well, that at the world's final two sprinters will go sub 20, and at the Olympics three.
