More excitement ... Boulami breaks WR and creams the Kenyans with a 7:53.17
Marion JOnes wins 100 but only 10.88 to 10.95 over Chryste Gaines ... And Gaines actualy closed the gap as Marion had faster reaction time .157 to .165 ...

Argh, Beverly McDonald finally competes for Team Run-Down and places 9th...
I had predicted a few meets back that we'd seen Gaines' best this year. I guess I was off a bit there...
And to top it off, I officially can no longer refer to the steeple as the "Kenyan Chase"...

Damn the luck. Frankie finishes a distant 8th. I believe that's the second time he's dropped off dramatically in a two-round format this year... And Maurice, yikes. 5th place can't sit too well with him, especially with Tim pulling off the much talked about win...

Something had to happen with that race ... If you look at the reaction times and the final times and places it looks like a wierd race ... FREdericks was out first and finished last .. Mo was out second and finished 5th ... THAT is unusual for BOTH of them ... Montgomery was out next to last ... Race was run into a -1.3 wind ... My guess is some false starts (2 or 3) followed by some uncertainty by folks on the final get a way ... Will have to see the race later tonight on TV !!!
1. 9.98 MOntgomery
2. 10.00 Miller
3. 10.05 Chambers
4. 10.06 Collins
5. 10.10 Greene
6. 10.16 Emedollu
7. 10.19 Obikwelu
8. 10.39 Fredericks

That sounds like as good a guess as any.
Any idea if Mayte Martinez is the same person as Maria Teresa Martinez (Spain in both cases) in the women's 800?

Hmm ... Not sure ... But they had a good race with 8 under 2:00 ... Mutola finally ges a scalp winning over Ceplak ...
Now this is what I hate abot the Golden League ... With the mixed fortunes that happend in the mne's 100, thre is no 200 to look forward to with guys like Fredericks and Greene and Chambers having an opportunity to come back and show their stuff !!!

Noooooooooo .... When was the last time Mo Greene AND Gail Devers LOST on the same day ????
1. 12.63 Gloria Alozi
2. 12.71 Brigitte Foster
3. 12.73 Gail Devers
4. 12.80 Jenny Adams
THAT doesn't fit at all ..
ElG runs solo 3:26 but DOESN'T get meet record as his 3:26.89 was almost 4 seconds ahead of runner up Cornelius Chirchir's 3:30.88 !!!

Guevara is quietly putting together a season worthy of consideration for AOY status ... Today she runs 49.16 and blows everyone out of the water ... And any kind of decent reaction time puts her under 49.00 ... she is undefeated ... And having the kind of season that Koch had early on in her career !!!

Interesting ... BBC site ssays Greene had a poor start and was never in the race ... Blocks say Greene had 2nd best raction time ... BBC says Greene was limping aftger the race ... Deduction: Perhaps Greene strained a muscle during his start ???

Just got back from a run of my own...
Quote: | When was the last time Mo Greene AND Gail Devers LOST on the same day ???? |
Definitely uncommon. Also puts a major hitch in Devers' AOY campaign, as a big feather in her cap was the undefeated streak...
Quote: | Is it me or do the Americans seem to be slugish today ... A bit off ?? |
It does look that way. Didn't most of the other countries compete fairly frequently over the last month in the Commonwealths, European Championships, and African Championships? If the Americans have been sitting on their butts for a month, that would certainly make them rusty the first meet back. I saw a few competing in smaller Grand Prix meets, but not much.

Good call. She's gotten very little mention, but she's tearing the circuit up thus far.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it is the same person. Too much of a coincidence otherwise... Someone may get some bonus points as a result.
I'll have this week's results added in shortly.

Ok, Week 7 results are posted:
http://run-down.com/fantasy/
Steve Prince (Team Green) and Jamie Princo continue their amazing trend of moving up the standings every single meet, now at #'s 4 and 5, and Gabriel Rodriguez would be able to say the same at #6 if not for a slight slip in Week 4...
At the other end of things, I continue my slide ... 92 ... 93 ... 94 ... At least I closed the gap on Micah by 3 spots.

Yeah, I just noticed that...
Ok, this is embarrassing. The guy immediately ahead of me in the standings only selected three and a half (technically four, but that's debatable) athletes for his roster!
