Feb 2-3 at the Rocky Racoon 100 mile run in Texas, Ann Heaslett ran 15:57 to finish 3rd overall and first female. Yes that is 15 hours and 57 minutes. Works out to be a tad under 9:36 pace. That is the 7th fastest 100 mile time for North American women in history. Heaslett has been hanging around in the top 5-10 female ultrarunners in the US for the past few years so this is a big step to put her up in the top group of Trason chasers.
Heaslett is from Wisconsin and is a child psychiatrist. It will be interesting to see how she does in other 100's this year. |

Am I thinking right or do a lot of top level female runners come from Wisconsin ???
That seems like an awesome performancae - male or female ... And to think she is CHASING Transon ... What is Transon like over the short distances - like 5 or 10K ??? |

I did a little quick research Conway. In high school Trason ran 9:58 for 3K, sub 5:00 for the mile (not sure of exact time) and 35:11 for 10K. She went to Univ of New Mexico on a track scholarship but left after too many injuries. Since then she has run 17:11 for 5K, 1:17:35 for half marathon and 2:39:15 for the marathon. Some say she could be world class in the marathon if she had concentrated on it. Pretty decent credentials.
And it does seem that Wisconsin has produced a boat load of women distance runners. I'm not sure what Heaslett's PR's are for shorter distances but if I can find them I'll let you know. |

I don't know how many actually originated from Wisconsin, but they have done very well there collegiately.
