Wow, with an argument that compelling, it's amazing there are any runners left in the world!

Is anyone aware of the ethical and moral implications of having a battle of the wits with an unarmed person?
(oops...sorry again...it's just that he is so easy) |

The shocking thing is who the post is apparently by (I didn't check until after posting my previous reply). I'm awaiting a response from our "anonymous" troller to see if it was truly him or if someone hijacked his computer, so I won't mention any names for now...

Who? You should tell us because, if some one whom we know wrote this message, we should know, and if some one "hi-jacked" his/her pc, he or she should know.

I've already emailed the "suspect." I'm giving himself a chance to come clean.

You know it wouldn't be bad to have a discussion regarding the virtues of track and field vs any other sport ... But at least be intelligent/intelligible about it ... Shouldn't afraid ot express an opinion ... Just be careful how you express it .. Wouldn't want to discourage conversation .. |

it was not a statement of my point of view it was a statement to cause controversy to see if ip addresses were logged. I knew i would be tracked down if ips were logged thats why i did it to see if they were. |

Hey Shaun,
Thanks for fessing up. Conway summarized my thoughts well.

If anyone else is curious of such things, feel free to ask me.

you may wonder why i was curious if ip's were logged its just that at work we have had some security problems and its possible to penetrate a network if u know the ip address thats all but we have traced the culprits now so nevermind.

Now that my blood pressure is back to normal I will withdraw my village idiot comments.
Comparing runners to soccer players might be interesting but in the long run it would be kind of like comparing oatmeal to escalators.
Two entirely different items for two entirely different purposes. |

Well ... Could always compare the relative "values" of each ... Such as health wise ... Training base wise .. Etc .. One thing htat I have noticed over the years is that some very good to great track stars have started out in soccer (European and African) ... Seems to provide a very good training base .. Moreso than many other sports ... .. |

Conway beat me to what I was going to say (what else is new?)... I can think of very few examples of solid soccer players who turned out to be average or worse runners when giving it a try, but countless examples come to mind of soccer players who turned out to be excellent runners, including sprinters, mid-distance runners, and even the shorter end of the distance spectrum.
I don't think there is any way to meaningfully compare the two sports, but the fitness levels and conditioning requirements of the two can definitely make for interesting comparisons.
