I wonder if any one can give me advise about running shorts,i once did a race with new shorts and my legs were bleeding when i finished,i know now i should never have worn new clothing in a race.I am ok in my long tights and my cycle shorts but wonder if it is just best to wear shorts say with vaseline or buy some others,i am from the uk and doing london marathon next month |

Depends a lot on what type of running shorts you are wearing. Some chaffe badly, others not at all. I would recommend using some vaseline or similar lube regardless. You can never have too little friction!

Not being in the UK, I can't really help you with that. Also, everyone is different in terms of what type of shorts work for them. In general, short running shorts made of a thin material will work best. Not too baggy, but loose enough that they don't ride up your legs and bunch up.

Have you tried the microfiber type shorts? New Balance and Moving Comfort (and Nike, I think) make those. Probably most important is to do at least several workouts in your anticipated marathon clothing before the actual race. |
