Didn’t register in time? No worries – the St. Jude Heroes Program has a limited number of entries available for the 2009 Bank of America Chicago Marathon!
We ask that each runner raise a minimum of $500 (credit cards are secured to guarantee your fundraising). Runners are required to pay for their own entry fee ($125 for US Residents/$150 for International Residents) as well as a $25 Heroes membership fee (that will count toward your fundraising total).
As a St. Jude Hero you will you will receive a personal fundraising website, a fundraising packet with a Charity Athlete Guide that has all the tools you will need to effectively fundraise, a pair of St. Jude Dri-Fit Socks, a St. Jude Singlet, and access to Active Trainer – a web-based tool that gives athletes of all skill levels access to professional training information.
Heroes in the Chicago Marathon will also have access to "Charity Village" the day of the race (exclusive only to charity runners) where we will have a private tent, private gear check, bathrooms, massages, food & drinks and your family & friends can meet you there after the race. The night before the race we will have a complimentary team pasta party where you will have the chance to meet your fellow St. Jude runners and a local patient family.
To secure an entry through St. Jude and to register for the St. Jude Heroes team you will need to fill out the Bank of America Chicago Marathon Charity Runner Entry Form and the St. Jude Commitment Form which can be found by clicking on Bank of America Chicago Marathon at www.stjudehoeres.org. Both forms must be turned in to secure an entry. Please do not register for the St. Jude Heroes Team online as it will not register you for the marathon. Forms can be faxed back to the Chicago office at 773.784.8745. Entries are issued on a first come first serve basis – so please get your forms in ASAP.
If you have any questions please feel free to call or email Kristine at 800.621.5359 or Kristine.paca@stjude.org.

How much money do you need to raise to run a marathon? Hi, I watched the London Marathon yesterday and I have decided that I would really like to do a marathon next year. Does anyone know how much money you need to raise to run a marathon? Is it thousands of pounds? Or is there no limit at all?

Do you mean to run in a marathon, i.e. compete, or to organize one, i.e. run an event? The wording of the question is very vague...
A small event has does not cost much to put on, but large ones like the London and Chicago Marathons have year-round work and millions of dollars behind them.
