Hi Dan,
The following question is submitted on behalf of my training partner who, believe it or not does not have access to the internet. He is wondering whether or not he should continue speedwork when the winter months approach. He is a fairly competitive miler with a 4:30PR but he does not race over the winter. I told him he should stop the speedwork and continue his tempo runs. What would you suggest?
Thanks,
Dave

I would lean toward maintaining the quick stuff, but backing off the intensity a bit. There's no reason to sacrifice speed just because of the cooler weather, but you need to be conscious of properly warming up your muscles.
