I agree with the weight training to help your legs. Having a strong body also helps prevent injury in the first place. Good luck with your next marathon

Ever since I started doing shin raises, etc. I have never gotten any shin splints since then as I used to. Long ago I would just be angry with myself since I couldn't run the next day to prevent a stress fracture in my shin. It is amazing how the affects of weight training benefit running. With weight training, it increase bone densities, ligament thickness, and muscle size of course. However, for endurance it is different, instead of the muscles getting bigger, through weight training, more muscle fibers are recruited when running, and thus allowing for a better performance.
