Ever since I started doing shin raises, etc. I have never gotten any shin splints since then as I used to. Long ago I would just be angry with myself since I couldn't run the next day to prevent a stress fracture in my shin. It is amazing how the affects of weight training benefit running. With weight training, it increase bone densities, ligament thickness, and muscle size of course.
