I, in spite of virtual impossibility -- I have to leave on Sunday -- will try to cover and compare the dash competition live at http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/polishandeuropeansprinters/ in the USA and Polish indoor track and field championships. Both USA and Polish indoor championships will take place between February the 24th and February the 26th (from Friday until Sunday).
The Polish dashers are performing well because they are relaxed: their only goal this year is the outdoor season and taking over as the dominant European sprint power: it already happened once during one of the European indoor championships during the 00's -- Marcin Urbas won, Robert Mackowiak was third, and Marcin Jedrusinski made the top six (as well as Radek Zachoval) in the second to last 200 m men's competition; Marek Plawgo, the 400 m H specialist, won the 400 m competition, and Pawel Czapiewski won the gold medal in the 800 m competition -- the Team UK & NI can be beaten.
The Team USA will perform better, but it would show the size of the gap between a great track and field nation and an average track and field nation that is ambitious.
I would love for somebody to help me in this effort. _________________ http://vincovitanj.tripod.com/Do_not_be_a_victim1/index.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u43o595CARQ

The pool of the dashers to participate in the men's 60--meter
competition shows a promise of a battle for the gold medal,
relatively fast times, and a review of the veterans of the Polish
short--distance running ( like Dyja, Nowak or Tulin) as well as the
youngsters (like, amongst others, Sienkiewicz) trying to become part
of the Polish national elite. There are two favourites: Marcin
Jedrusinski and Dariusz Kuc, but they may be challenge. The most
likely challengers are Marcin Nowak, Przemyslaw Rogowski, Michal
Bielczyk, and Adam Gaj. The absence of Lukasz Chyla and Marcin Urbas
is not surprising since both decided to treat the indoor season as a
preparation for the outdoor season.
My prediction for the winner is:
Dariusz Kuc -- he wants to run the leadoff leg in the Polish national
200-400-600-800 relay during the European Winter Cup in March of this
year, and he wants to participate in the Indoor World
Championships'2006 in Moscow. He, very simply, wants it the most.
Predicted Winner's Time: 6.59 seconds
Possible Upset Winner: Marcin Nowak
In the US Indoor Championships Leonard Scott and Shawn Crawford
should win the gold and silver medals. Johnie Drake, probably the
fastest out of three recently--mentioned dashers, will most likely
take the bronze medal because of his lock of experience. I do not
think that Terrence Trammell, John Capel, or Coby Miller will be
able to medal.
My prediction for the winner is:
Shawn Crawford
Predicted Winner's Time 6.50
Possible Upset Winner: Jason Smoots (or less likely Dwight Phillips) _________________ http://vincovitanj.tripod.com/Do_not_be_a_victim1/index.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u43o595CARQ
