I sincerely hope that before he retires Benard Lagat is able to force the other U.S. 1500m/5000m runners to step up their game/performances! The other U.S. runners will see Alan and Benard competing for medals at the Worlds and hopefully David K. as well and be aspired and motiviated more to join them. |

I don't think it really happened in Khannouchi's case, so I'm not sure why it would in Lagat's, other than maybe because there's more of a direct competition in track than on the roads.

If getting pounded in International competition hasn't been inspiring enough, I'm not sure simply having Lagat on the team will help anything ...
Webb and K-nakker have seemingly had their own inspirations as they have stepped it up ... The others just don't want it bad enough in my opinion ... And unless these guys get together to train (which is highly unlikely) then I don't see where there will be any connection of merit .. _________________ Conway
