Something just occurred to me that hasn't come up in the past. With combining the 5k/10k for men (combined athlete rankings lists), what happens when someone like Bekele doubles in a meet? The scoring methodology breaks down instantly... That would necessitate making them separate events for the purpose of the contest, but that brings us back to the old issue of distance races not being contested frequently enough from one meet to the next.
Suggestions?

That'll be a real pain in the arse to do. No thanks.

No point removing Jedrusinski -- there's lots of people in the lists that likely will not compete in any of the Fantasy meets. Adding someone else you expect will compete is no problem, though. Just need to arrive at a rough purchase price, based on what already priced level they're similar to.

OK ... Maybe we replace the 5/10 with the 3000st ... It is a distance event and tends to be run more frequently ... So would sort of keep us with the same balance of events .. _________________ Conway

No scoring model available for that event, though.
I don't see an easy answer around this one, unless we make an arbitrary decision from meet to meet which of the distance races will be scored (if both are held), or something to that effect.

OK ... Then let's say, for the sake of simplicity, that if both are held inthe same meet that the 10,000 be scored - the longer of the two - for balance sake since there are more short races than long ones ... That way we have a scoring model, we keep a distance event on the schedule, and people know in advance what to expect ... _________________ Conway

Things are quite at the G-8 Summit so far which gives me a chance to say I like Conway's idea.

Excellent, a vote from someone likely to actually pick people in those events.
Thanks for venturing down from the summit to hang with us mere mortals.

Those requests need to be in a thread for just that purpose, not sprinkled throughout others...
