I've been looking all over for a good pair of shoes designed for toe runners? All I ever find are shoes with "superior padding" on the toes or track shoes. Does anyone know where to hunt down a good pair of shoes for people like me who only have heels to the ground when we are standing around? |

Some of the Brooks have very good forefoot cushioning without being overdone in the heel. That would be my first attempt. Possibly Mizuno's, but I'm less sure about that.

Mizuno Creation has an irregularily high amount of cushion in the forefoot, but offers little pronation correction if you need that as well.
Most quality shoes nowadays have good forefoot cushioning.
If there's a running specialty store in your area, I suggest seeing what they have to say. It's easier when someone can actually see your feet. |

Do not know of a long distance durable flat. Though, you could get an indoor soccer shoe with no heel lift and add the insole that suits you. Custom shoes from Hersey in Vermont cost $400-$500 for the first pair. I tried cutting off the heel of one old pair without success--the lift begins quite far forward on the foot.
Performance trainers have less heel and less shoe intrusion. Some are very light and will last a while. Brooks Burn had a very spongy forefoot and substantial heel lift, but held up well.
Mizuno and Brooks shoes intrude less than Nike, in general. Mizuno are much firmer.
Let us know what you find. |

Running shoes are one of those things that's worth their weight in gold if you get a good pair. I'd suggest going to one of those stores that watches you run and then finds you the right shoe and watches you run in that too and then finds you a better shoe and watches you run in that. I had good luck with marathon sports if there is one near you. Once you get the right model (for life), you can generally find your shoe online for a lot cheaper. _________________ Check out my favorite running quotes. |
