what makes an athlete "elite"? is it their drive to perform? their attitude on and off the field? or their yearn for personal excellence? or anything else...??? why are athletes in any sport given the title of "elite"? |

An elite athlete is simply someone who sits at or near the top of the heap in their given sport. Ultimately, it has very little to do with their attitude on and off the field, although that can be a factor. I've also known athletes who didn't necessarily have a personal drive to perform, or a yearning for personal excellence, although those, too, can be factors. Some athletes are so good that they just go through the motions and still are at the top of their chosen endeavors. _________________ Paul

The other side of the coin is true also. There are athletes who have a little less than optimum talent but achieve elite status through drive and hard work. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |
