Big disappointment by Kipketer, scoring "only" 114 points. Definitely won't be hitting 1300 now. Sad

Only 166 points out of Ayhan. My team faltered a bit down the stretch...

Results are in!

http://run-down.com/fantasy/index.php?go=full_results

A bit of jostling throughout the rankings, but not as many huge moves as I expected. Pawel closed the gap significantly on #1, making for an intriguing last meet showdown. A bit of slippage for the Aussies, but Conway climbs 5 spots to #20 with a very solid meet. Me, I continued the snowball strategy, moving up another 22 spots to #61, but couldn't catch Micah as his team moved up to 48th! Neutral That 120 points I was counting on that didn't materialize down the stretch was the difference between 61st and 51st... Still, I predicted 59th place for the meet; pretty close. Chris Baptista is another gaining big momentum down the home stretch...

How 'bout Sanya Richards in the 4x400?! That's what I was expecting to see from her in the open 400, but the recap I read said she basically forgot to run the last 40m of her semi. Too bad, but I expect to see big things from her in the future.

Snowball stat of the day: 9 meets down, and the last 3 meets have accounted for a whopping 61.5% of my total points. Surprised Nearly as impressive, the WC's accounted for 28.2% of the total.

I wanted to get a little higher, but hey I'm in the thick thick this year ... I'll take it !!!! One more to go ... And most should compete now that the games are done ... Or at least you would think they'd take a shot at makin money ...

As long as their event is held, I would think most healthy athletes will give it a go. Unfortunately, that means I'll fall back behind the curve without the 400m points.

I'm already formulating a plan for next year... Wink

I wan to know Pawael's theory ... He got NO points in the first meet ... And then rocketed up like a bullet ...

I'd say his theory is pretty simple and sound ... load up on top notch athletes.

http://run-down.com/fantasy/index.php?go=roster&id=68

He just got bit by the same bug as many of us -- very few notable athletes competing in the first meet -- just a bit harder. As soon as his crew started competing in meet 2, he was instantly in the thick of things. Even a mere 100 points in meet 1 would've had him in the lead now...

How many other people got hit by Bungei's dose of malaria and Ceplak running the 1500m instead of the 800m?

At least I hit the top 10 with only 7 of my 10 athletes competing. I am just disappointed that I lost 300 points by those two not turning up at all. Now I just have to chase down Andre. He took me by 6 points in our beer comp but I have a meet left to take him down here.

Ooh, personal wagers are at stake... I like it! Smile

Add Graf to the injury bug list, and Holmes going the opposite way of Ceplak probably bit a few people (Micah, for one). Geb was an ommission from the 5k write-in list, so no one got hurt by his absence.

Yeah Holmes did hurt me. But the ones that really killed me were Nicole Teeter and David Krummenacher. If they had been as good this year as last year then I could have been up there with Conway. But then if frogs had wings............... Sad

That's the tough part, knowing who will do better than last year (under valued), who will do worse or run less meets (over valued), or who will do about the same (even money)... I had big money tied up in Ayhan, Guevara, and Kipketer and got nothing out of them until the very end.

Yay, I never thought I would get so close to the lead after the World Champs Very Happy I had pretty much given up my hopes of winning the league after Zurich, but now... who knows ?
