At the World Youth championships this weekend a guy from BC (Chris Winter) that I run against every year managed a surprising third place. I couldn't believe how well he'd done at this level, so I just wanted to check out whether he ran one hell of a race, or if it just wasn't very competative. His time was 5:44, but I don't really know how good that is. He runs the 1500 in 3:58 and the 3000 in 8:37, do these times add up?
I'm still impressed that he managed to beat out all but 2 of the african runners [/url] |

I guess that answers my question from the other thread. I was thinking Chris was the name...
I caught the race on TV and was very impressed with the level of the field and how Winter competed at the end. As I recall, the 2 Kenyans were aiming for low 8:00 pace (for the 3k steeple), so it was hardly a laughable field. The Kenyan that won it is being called the best ever Kenyan steeple prospect by the national coach.
