http://www.usatoday.com/sports/olympics/summer/track/2003-04-24-montgomery_x.htm
Quote: | "I want the credit. I know with him I was going to run something crazy. I know now I'm going to run something crazy. I didn't want (Francis as coach) to be the focus point when I ran fast." |
I hope that was taken out of context, because it sounds incredibly self-centered.
Quote: | Montgomery and Jones know the sex of their child but prefer to keep the information private.
"When I'm done making the sport better, I'd like for my child to come in, run and break records," Montgomery says. "Keep the records in the family." |
Seeing as how Marion doesn't really have any records, that's a pretty strong hint that it's a boy.

I'll bet people love to interview Tim. He's always good for some goofy comment. Who will he be running with this weekend at the Penn Relays?? |

I too think it is a boy ... But not becasue Marion doesn't hold any records ... More so beczsue she won't ... Although Tim's record is going ot be sort lived ... So there you have it ... I read the article this morning ... It sounds like Tim to me ... Doesn't have a clue ... And THAT is why he will not win in Paris .. _________________ Conway

Well, not only did Montgomery not run a spectacularly fast time in Mexico City, he got 2nd behind a relative unknown. Let's see how he spins this...

Well let's see ... He loses 10.03 to 10.04 to Macrozonaris from Canada ... At altitude ... After he predicted a time of 9.87 or better (said he was going to run an "altitude" best) ... Said he was in the best shape of his life ... Ummmm ... How do you spin that ???
On a positive note Allyson Felix ran 22.11 !!!!! _________________ Conway

Man that's fast.
Once again, Tim's performance wouldn't have been all that bad for a season opener had he just kept his mouth shut...

I think it's still safe to say Tim is overly obsessed with Mo... From today's RW Online:
Quote: | Having wrested the 100 world record from Greene by clocking 9.78 last September, he declared at Friday's pre-race press conference his intention of obliterating all of Greene's individual meet records as well.
"Where Maurice Greene has the record, I'm going to try and wipe his name off the map," Montgomery said. |
Uh, how about focusing on your own race for a change?

I've said it before and I'll sayit again ... As long as Mo is competing Tim cannot win a championship ... HE can't get over Mo mentally .... Had Mo been in Paris last year he would still be WR holder ... _________________ Conway

Mr. Interview does it again with a quote appearing in yesterday's RW Online:
Quote: | "I didn't want to hurt myself catching him," Montgomery said. "Coming straight from Moscow, I had to be safe." |
Wow, talk about a winning mentality.

Winning mentality ??? OR just doesn't have a clue and out of touch with reality ??? I'm voting for number TWO !!!
Tim is out to lunch ... I've been saying that for several years now ... I've been labled a Tim hater, but I just call it like I see it ... And so far I keep being right where he is concerned ...
THIS was his year to shine ... Fresh off setting a WR !!! The MAN (Mo) weakened ... Yeah he changed coaches ... Big whoop ... People do it every year ... Last time Mo did it he became World Champ !!! Had a baby .. NO he didn't have a baby - MARION had a baby ... Nothing physical going on for Tim ... No need to miss training ... Marion and baby were home while he was away - no bottles, diapers or any of that stuff ... Athletes leave their jobs to be there at child birth all the time ... Go back and do their thing ...
Timmy's just a nut case who didn't get it done !!!! And won't next year either ... _________________ Conway

Both. He lacks a winning mentality and is out of touch with reality.

It puts him on the outside looking in. I consider him a borderline longshot to make the team. Barring unforseen circumstances such as injuries or newcomers, I see the following order at next year's trials, with enough quality to list it 9 deep:
Gatlin
Greene
B. Williams
Capel
JJ Johnson
Montgomery
Drummond
Patton
Grimes
Tim runs better as the underdog, but as long as he's got that WR attached to his name, that's not going to happen.
