|
|
About where should my heart rate get down to between 400 m intervals? Let's say I'm going to run 8 of them. Say I finish one at 185 BPM, when do I begin the next? 120 or so? Is there sort of a rule of thumb on this?
Thanks everyone.
By the way, for whoever is interested, it looks like I'm going to OCS this summer. 10 weeks in Quantico. The training has paid off. scored a 284 out of 300 on my last PFT. This is providing I don't get deployed first. Thanks to everyone for the help. |

I don't really know what all that means, but congrats!
As you know, I don't pay much attention to heart rate numbers, so this certainly isn't a conclusive opinion, but I think 120 is on the low side for a recovery target unless you're hitting very high intensity. I would guess more in the 140-160 range, depending on the workout.

Congratulations on your appointment to OCS.
Having been in the military I know exactly what that means for you and I wish you the best of luck. How exactly did your PFT scores break down? From past posts I would guess you maxed the pullups and situps.
I will be in Quantico this summer too going to a course at the FBI Academy. I would like to think we might be able to share a beer but I doubt you will have your weekends free.
Again...congratulations and Semper Fi. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Hey thanks. What do you do in the FBI?
My PFT was 20 pullups, 100 crunches and a 20:35 run time. That run time will put me in about the middle of the pack at OCS. In fact we do get some time off, so I'll take you up on that. It starts after the first two or three weeks I believe, and then they release you every saturday afternoon untill sunday afternoon. Where in Quantico is the FBI? I was out there in '97, but I didn't get to see much. Do you know where Brown Field is at? |

I work for a state law enforcement agency and the school I'm going to is a "graduate" type school for law enforcement supervisors. It is heavy on management, leadership and current issues in law enforcement. I'll be there for 10 weeks. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

June 30 through Sep 4. The Academy is actually on the Marine Base but I'm not sure exactly where. I will have internet access so I will be able to check in on the forum. Don't guess you know if you will yet? _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

I use HRM's all the time. If you are doing these for 1500/3000m workouts, ignore the HRM except to see if you are getting fitter. If you are trying to do them for 5k+, then use a fixed time interval and you will watch your HR rise with each successive repeat. Ideally, you will hit a plateau and be able to maintain the intensity without dying on your paces. |

It depends, you can't really sum up heart rate monitors in a just a few lines. I know that there are some basics, but, how much do you know?
I use mine every day. A good HRM will allow you to watch your Heart rate as you recover. While running intervals, you can do heart rates as the recovery guide (like Geschler's 120bpm recovery theory) or you can do fixed time intervals. Either way, a heart rate monitor is basically useful for watching increased fitness in workouts; tempo runs; recovery runs. |

___My pulse is usually around 61-63 in spite of my high blood pressure. I started checking it after each run. Lately, I lost 10 lbs.
___After my easy run around the Weequahic park in Newark, NJ, it went up to 87. Will that work out benefit me, if I took it so easily?
Two more things of information, it was 85 F ouside, and the joggers path consists of the initial hill, easy run-down, easy run-up, quick easy run-down, a longer steep hill, steep run-down, short flat part, very steep short hill, easy long run-down, small hill, and short easy run-down to the finish. It is 2.2 miles long or 3.535 K. _________________ http://vincovitanj.tripod.com/Do_not_be_a_victim1/index.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u43o595CARQ

...my heart rate went up without running. Today, when I was comming back with my lady from her daughter's, Tatiyanna, graduation at Beadleston, I saw a white guy with a box cutter comming around a corner, walking rapidly . It was 11 PM, and we were looking for a parking space. The guy drove-off in a jeep or another similar SUV with the lights shut-off. My lady suggested that we should take his parking by a trash can. However, I told her that we will park somewhere else. She did not protest; although, she new that we passed through the street on her black twice, and there was none -- even though, there were four insufficient by couple inches parking spaces. We were lucky. There was a space on the same side that either we ommitted, or somebody vacated in the mean time.
We took it.
The guy's intention's could have been pure, but behavior suspecious. This leads me to believe that we possibly chaced him away. There are two bus stops in the vicinity, and the busses stop running by 12:30, he could have been stocking a pray, or again, he could have been a nice guy just looking suspeciously.
