Happy New Year to one and all. All of us will have our resolutions and goals for 2003 and I hope we all attain them.
Now for the black eyed pea question. Down here where I grew up we eat black eyed peas on new year's day. The legend is that you will earn a dollar during the year for every pea you eat on Jan 1. Anybody else familiar with that tradition?
Mrs. Ward has the pot of peas on the stove now with chunks of the left over Christmas ham boiling away. Sure wish you all could join us in a couple of hours for the feast. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

That's a first for me. Does it mean you'll earn a dollar extra for each one you eat or just a dollar period? If it's extra, I could see saving some room in the tummy. But if it's in total, seems like a risky tradition to partake in...

Happy New Year one and all!! Personally, I'm happy 2002 is out of the way. I worked last night until 6 this morning so I'm celebrating a little late. Just finished up a crash week where I logged 28 miles in 8 days, including my 1st 4 miler and 5 miler nonstop since Aug 2001. Even threw in a workout of killer 50's, DG!!

I also was working when the year turned. Good work on the running. If I'm not careful you'll be running laps around me in no time. The athletes that I put through the killer 50's really liked them, I modified them from the killer drills Newton talks about in Coaching Cross Country Successfully. _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

Thanks for the pat on the back, DG, but let's not get carried away, here. I'm a 25 min 5K guy hoping to break 23:30, not a sub 20!! I handle the short stuff a lot better than the longer, sustained work. That's my goal for the rest of the winter is try to increase my sustained run and workout regularity.

I woke up from a nap 10 minutes before the New Year... It was that or drive up to Portland half-asleep to a friend's get-together, but I was rather exhausted from a week of heavy physical work.
Non-stop 4 and 5 milers? Excellent progress! I'm hoping to get something in that range in tomorrow, but we'll see... Still running mostly every other day while making sure all systems are go.

I went for a 3 miler at about 9pm, then the new girlfriend and I went to our local club for the New Years party. I ended up sleeping on her couch (thats my story and I'm sticking to it)
We have 3 snow storms lined up and moving in on us, so I should have some snow to run in by Friday afternoon.
Hope you all had a nice New Years eve _________________ If I could only run like John Capel... |

Yeah, like you're gonna find anyone who believes that story!
Running in snow, ooh, talk about a workout...

Hey couch man
With all that snow do you do any cross country skiing? I was stationed in New Hampshire for a year and got in a lot of good workouts on the skis that winter. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |
