Despite the sarcastic quality, I think it's a fairly accurate fictional depiction.

I saw that picture posted elsewhere the other day. Could still be coincidental, but highly unlikely.

Looks like lots of backstabbing going on... If it's true that Graham has been a front for Francis and others for several years now, his posturing is rather pitiful. I'd love to hear about this alleged Greene interview and what he had to say!

Those were 2 interesting articles. The attacks and comments on Francis have really gotten vitriolic. And everyone is still dredging up the T-Mag columns without looking at the context of the magazine itself. There's got to be a lot more to this story than we've been let on to. I think it involves Gatlin when he signed with Graham. Something to the effect that Graham told Gatlin "In 2 years people will be saying 'Tim who?' ".
If the Golden League actually tried to blackball MJ and TM the legal action would be in the 10's of millions, and the GL would lose. My guess is that GL's own lawyers will tell them to tone it down.

Definitely. I'm getting the impression that Francis, or his reputation at least, has grown bigger than even the IAAF and everyone is afraid to associate with him in any way whatsoever. I guess the powers that be feel that issue was put to rest in the late 80's, but now it's becoming evident that he was never really silenced and never even left the sport (!), so how can they possibly let this go on without looking even worse than they did post-Seoul? Could become ugly...

A few things ... First off the meets are privately held ... All they have to do is NOT invite them ... They can invite whomever they choose ... ON what grounds could TM & MJ sue ????
Secondly FRancis is tarnished goods ... Has been since Seoul ... And the fact thaat he has never been repentent or shown any "remorse" makes him worse than that ... Dealing with Francis is guilt by association and the meet promoters appear to be more savvy in this matter than TM & MJ ...
As for the HSI camp not liking Francis, he has attempted to implicate John Smith as a drug user/pusher since Dubin ... Of course there is bad blood there ... Francis has tried to bring the whole sport to his level ... TM & MJ are seeing to that this season !!! _________________ Conway

Really? I don't recall seeing anything about that, at least not in anything but super vague terms.

I saw a variation of that article a couple of days ago. At least this one doesn't make some of the chronological mistakes the other one did...
I can't say I really have any reaction to it. My feelings are similar as with Charlie Francis -- if someone wants to be coached by a specific person, so be it. Past history isn't necessarily meaningful, although it obviously could be. I took Creatine for a while and strongly believe it to be effective, yet I never once suggested any of my sprinters take it (several already had prior to working with me) or anything else. As a coach, I view my job to be getting the most of the athletes when they're on the track. What they do off the track and what they do to prepare for their time on the track is up to them. I view other coaches in the same light. What they have done in the past as a coach and/or competitor may or may not reflect on what they will do with their next athlete.

I think I popped another hernia reading Mitchell's excuse why he failed the drug test. |
