Hint #2 - the race didn't occur during the 88 Trials ... _________________ Conway

Hmmmm ... LEt's see ... Zurich is known for fast races ... So is Athens ... And so is Eugene, especially windy ones ... Lausanne is fast too .. Athens and Eugene get to host more majors though (US Trials and Worlds and Euros) ... I have ot guess on this one since I am at work and don't have time to reserach ... So I'll stick my neck out and say Eugene or Athens ... Sound like Dan now ... LOL ... OK .. Let's go with Athens ... Its were Mo got his record and I know the Euros have been there ... And it is annuallly a fast race ... So more opportunities than most venues ... Athens is my final answer ...
I did want to say that the answer to the fastest Indy race - Mo's 9.90 in '97 was very significant as it marked his ascendance to the top of 100 meter sprinting !!! And note that 2nd in that race at 9.92 was - Tim Montgomery .. So the last two WR holders made their initial major marks in that race ... _________________ Conway

OK ... A very quick count (by hand here) has Eugene ahead of Athens by 1 !!!25 to 24 ... I have Zurich at 15 and Atlanta at 16 ... Which now has me thinking that Indy could well be it !!! _________________ Conway

Nice job Conway
Most people don't know that Sayers went to high school in Omaha since he was born and went to college in KS. _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

I did lean, my neck just wasn't long enough... Torso actually, but that doesn't sound as good.

DG, I think that was a thinly veiled challenge to try and stump the reigning trivia champ...

Wow, that's some longevity! I'm going to guess Mary Slaney. From I think '77 to '96 or later, she ranked in the top 10 in the US every year, so I wouldn't be surprised if she also garnered top 10 world rankings in 15 of those.

I guess you mean top 10 as in time rankings, in which case Merlene Ottey comes to mind.
Some more questions, all sprint related as usual:
1. Who ran the first one day sub-10/sub 20 double?
2. Who first ran two legal sub-10s on the same day?
3. Who first broke 10.00 yet lost?
4. Who ran the first wind-legal 9.7 hand time?
5. What is the fastest prelim 100m ever run?
6. What is the fastest any male 100m runner has run in failing to make a final?
7. What is the fastest male 100m time run in a B race?
8. In a C race?
Should keep you busy for a bit!
