Haile always looks like he is just floating shoot sometimes I am not even sure that his feet touch the ground when he is running. I truely hope that he and Tergat and the rest of the competitors come into the Beijing games fully healthy and ready to roll - could be a battle for the ages... _________________ The long run is what puts the tiger in the cat. |

I thought Haile retired, he's older than Hicham and still going. _________________ My favorite all time race: Hicham El Guerrouj - Prefontaine Classic Mile 2002 http://youtube.com/watch?v=4YykUTHzOL8

Then I guess Hicham is more of a family guy I hope he won't lose any speed especially when he competes in 10Ks and 5Ks against younger generations of runners. Well maybe that's not right because I started to see true ultra distance taking part in him right now starting with his world record marathon, so I doubt he will be participating in 5Ks and 10Ks _________________ My favorite all time race: Hicham El Guerrouj - Prefontaine Classic Mile 2002 http://youtube.com/watch?v=4YykUTHzOL8

He still runs a few but he will even say that he has lost a step in those shorter distance with age... _________________ The long run is what puts the tiger in the cat. |

Yeah, I don't know how someone can get bored that easily. Paul and I have talked about it before and we figure it's a generational thing. Most people can't even go to the gym anymore without bringing music.

Heh, even our top miler at my school runs everyday with music on the track.
I remember he ran once on the track in sports fitness when we had our cardio day. He's got a rude attitude when during XC after everyone finished, he didn't want to shake hands with all the other lower class runners that "They may wipe their slowness on him." _________________ My favorite all time race: Hicham El Guerrouj - Prefontaine Classic Mile 2002 http://youtube.com/watch?v=4YykUTHzOL8

He's in the top 50 in the nation though. I've heard he was 6th in the nation, but I'll just go with top 50. His mile time is 4:04 so far as a junior. It always irritates me how one is so close to something, and the mile takes 4 minutes out of 24 hours of the day, plus we have 1 month and a couple of weeks left of school. I mean just like Hicham, if I were him I would've just gone out and break the 3:43 record. 3 seconds shaved off has little effect on the body as opposed to taking off 20 seconds. Only timing and speed would be a factor here... _________________ My favorite all time race: Hicham El Guerrouj - Prefontaine Classic Mile 2002 http://youtube.com/watch?v=4YykUTHzOL8

The fastest HS Boys mile in the country this year is 4:08 (and that includes conversions from 1500 and 1600 and indoors. Care to try again?
Regardless of the time, the individual strikes me as someone who would not add to a team dynamic. I have left individuals off of teams before. I have met elite runners in the past - world record holders who would not be so callous as that - who easily could just shake people off. Do you think your hero Hicham would do such a thing? does Haile? Individuals with that sort of attutude usually get there you know whats handed to them eventually and sadly without some sort of attitude adjustment amount to very little. _________________ The long run is what puts the tiger in the cat. |

No matter how good an athlete is, they always run across someone better eventually... (Herb Elliott found a way around that!)
