I've got some head scratching to do on event choices... This year's Golden League lineup:
MEN: 100m, 1500m, 110m Hurdles, Triple Jump, Javelin Throw
WOMEN: 100m, 400m, 100m Hurdles, High Jump, Pole Vault
We've got the 100, 1500, and 110h covered for men, but not the triple jump and javelin, as far as reliable scoring models are concerned. For the women, we've got the 100, 400, and HJ covered. Nothing for the 100h. I might be able to tweak the PV scoring for men to work for the women, but I'm not sure about that... Looking back at the math, I'm not even sure what I did to come up with those scores in the first place.

I found some different decathlon & heptathlon scoring formulas that look like they might just work out for the 100h and several of the throwing events we've floundered with previously. A quick check of season best marks yields pretty equivalent scores across events. Doesn't help us with the women's pole vault, though.
The men's 200 isn't a GL event this year, but I'm tempted to add it in, anyway, due to how hot it's likely to be whenever it's contested...

Well I would say that we need a distance race for both as well
Something in the middle for the men would be nice 200 or 400
are we going 5 and 5 or 6 and 4 or what? _________________ The long run is what puts the tiger in the cat. |

I thought about that, but a non-GL distance race sounds like something that will be rarely contested...

But dont all of the meets have some sort of distance race?
I will see what I can come up with - seems that it should be represented.
The hard thing doing the 100/200 is so many athletes switch back and forth between them - the you could miss out if you dont pick them for both or possibly blow it on one event only to have them run the other... tough choices _________________ The long run is what puts the tiger in the cat. |
