And no top. With all that THG coursing through my body, I guess I'm just a real specimen now!!
Micah, I'm dipping under 170 on a regular basis now. Get moving on that weight loss program!
I do need to moderate a bit. I don't want to have any foot or PF problems flare up. I realize I am breaking the cardinal rule, here, increasing mileage and intensity at the same time.

Oh, so you got the infamous Balco sampler platter?
I just sit back in awe and amusement at how much you've successfully piled onto your training load...

Any special diet Paul? I lost a bunch with Atkins but I really don't want to do it again. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Two weeks ago I scarfed down 9 Tacos from Taco Bell in 15 minutes. Does that count?? Dan, What is that phrase "when the furnace is hot..."
Did 5 1/2 easy miles today. Have something special planned for Sunday but am afraid to mention what it is. |

Wow! You know, if this running this doesn't work out you can always get into competitive eating! The most I've ever stomached was 5, and I thought that was pretty impressive. _________________ November 9th... |

Double duty, today, race wise. Run Like Hell 5K in downtown Portland at 7AM. Cloudless day, cool. This was a flat out and back course except for the beginning, which was downhill slightly to waterfront (7 blocks) and the tail end coming back the same way. I have no idea what my splits were, but I went out hard and pretty much managed to stay that way through the race. 20:12
Then onto the XC series at 8:30. This was close to 4 miles this time around. Took it easy on the first of three circuits, then started to pick some people off. Still finished only so-so, 92nd out of 168. Will probably drop a notch or two in the Masters standing. But the 5K was my primary effort today. I think I finished just over 30 minutes.
Total mileage for the day exceeded 10 with warmups and cooldowns.
Took some of that Gu stuff before the XC. I think it helped.

YOU STUD
20:12 age grades to a 17:27!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
An outstanding race. My congratulations. You must have finished well in the overall standings and I will be shocked if you didn't win your age group. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Whoa!
I'm a bit confused, though...

Sounds like three different races to me, although I suppose a dead legged 4 miler could be over 30 minutes.

There were three loops to the XC race, totalling supposedly 3.95 miles. So the XC race was negotiated at probably a 7:30 pace. I just mentioned that I was putting a lot more energy into the 5K today because of the race and the conditions we had.
One of the bonuses of the road 5K was that, even though I was running by myself, I didn't bonk half way through the race. I was able to maintain a steady clip. But, then again, it was only 5K, probably one of my best distances. By the way, on McMillan's calculator, that is worth a 5:49 mile and sub 42 10K!
Dan, I owe you once again. Remember the perceptions email about me just wanting to break 6:30 for the mile this year? And now I'm doing that for repeats. And I strung 3 together for a race! I just hope the course was accurate. But since it was an out and back you wouldn't think it would be that technical to measure.
Micah, thanks for the WAVA breakdown. I'll mention that to some people on Tuesday's workout.

Will, you would have kicked some sub 19 butt on this road course today! |

Now if I could just motivate myself as well as I motivated you...

Another double track workout today. 4 x 800 last one in 3:05. Followed by 4 x 200 mid 37's last in 35. We blew some tubes out on those! Recovery for the 200's was just a 200 jog. Off to Lake oswego for 3 x 1 mile 600 jog recovery. About 6:50 for each mile. I was spent after this. Very windy all evening. |
