I don't know if I ever answered this, but it was to be taken as a compliment. My mileage isn't much right now, 100 miles a month, give or take, but I am covering a lot of bases in my training.
Some famous coach said that a race can be determined by the pace for the first half, maybe even the first quarter mile. I suppose that position at the start could be important, I remember the starts at the Willamette Invitational, but you give up a lot more than is gained by going out too fast. I agree with your assessment. |
