Well we've discussed the athlete of the year ... Coming up wiht ElG and Radcliff as our Male and Female choices ... Runners up included being FElix Sanchez and Ana Guevara ...
But who were the best in each event ?? A top 3 or 5 perhaps ... Although with such limited schedules in many events it may be a very tough call to make ...
Anyone care to discuss ??? Where do you want to start ??? We did pretty good last year with only about 3 of us participaitng ... We have a lot more "regulars" this year .. I fancy we could do qiute a job ..

That's what I figured our athlete/performance/peformer of the year thread would cover... I suspect I'll be quite busy pretty soon here, but I can chip in an opinion or two as needed. I don't know that I'll be able to put in the time for researching events I didn't see much of, so let's hear what others have to say!

No one else wants to chime in...?
I could post pictures of the house I'm about to buy... Maybe that would stir up some discussion???

So are we starting with the 100?
For the women, Marion.
For the men...just trying to remember...without looking at numbers...
Montgomery? Chambers? _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Ok, you asked for it... Wait, that's me asking for it. Hmm...

I'm in agreement with Micah thus far. Going 3 deep:
Men's 100:
Tim Montgomery
Dwain Chambers
Maurice Greene
Women's 100:
Marion Jones
Zhana Pintusevich-Block
Tayna Lawrence

Niiiiiiiiiice
That patio in the back is perfect for the outdoor cookers we would need to steam the oysters and cook the low country boil. (potatoes, onions, sausage, corn on the cob and lots of shrimp)
As for the 200, was it even run enough to pick a top 3?  _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

My mouth's watering already!
I would have to consult the lists to go more than 1 or 2 deep in the 200m... Ditto for the 400m.

Wow ... I agree with the 100 ... Amazing that Greene ranks 3rd after all the talk about Slo Mo and everything else ...
200 is a tough one let's try:
Men
1. Konstantinos Kenteris
2. Justin Gatlin
3. Frank Fredericks
All three were sub 20 ... Kenteris won what amounted to the biggest title of the year (though not necessarily the biggest race) ... Gatlin was the most prolific and won NCAA's (which this year qualifies as a majora race in my book there being no world major) and yeah I know he was banned but come on for asthma ... Fredericks was most dominant in the "other races" ...
Women
1. Maion Jones
2. Debbie Ferguson
3. Zhanna Pintusevich
My inclination here is to go with the list leaders as no one ran many races ..
I like the house too Dan ... You'll need room for the Weber (or a converted Oil barrel) to do the chicken, ribs, and links !!!

Those picks look as good as any I could come up with for the 200...

OK ... Let's see what others think ... As for the 400, I'm not sure the Men can be ranked !!! Maybe:
Men
1. Blackwood
2. Schultz
3. ???? Byrd ?
Women is fairly easy
1. Ana Guevara
2. Lorraine Fenton
3. Jeral Miles-Clark

1 & 2 are easy, but I'm not sure I'd put Jearl at 3. Didn't Michelle Collins have a better overall season? I thought there were a couple others right in that range, too.

Hmmm .... I think Jeral had the best set of marks ... Quite a few in there .. But Michelle Collins could be ust as easily inserted there as far as I am concerned ...
