The first person too run a sub 4 mile after forty is an Irishman who's name I'm having trouble remebering, I want to say Coogan or something along those lines, I do know it was run when he was 41 and I'm pretty sure it was run indoors. _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

Eamonn Coghlan (41, from Ireland)... 3:38.13 and it was run indoor. I had to look it up for the exact name but I was pretty close for off the top of my head. Although I will admit to not being sure if there has been someone else who's broken 4 since without breaking his record. _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

Well...
I'm having a hard time with the first one...man or woman?
I'll say Pitro Mennea or Irina Privalova
Teen miler--Noah Ngeny
Oldest under 10--Linford Christie |

I've actually been out house shopping... Without any resource checking, I'll venture a guess or two. Heck, who am I kidding? Guessing is putting it mildly!
#1 has to be one of the Eastern Bloc women. Kratchilova or Koch or someone else who's name I rarely remember?
#2: impossible to answer, as most of the "teens" up for consideration have birth certificates which are thought to be anything but accurate...
#4: Christie sounds like a good guess. How old was Surin in '99? Frankie this year?

What about Lewis? He was no spring chicken the last time he set the world record, and I would think he broke 10 at least a few times after that. _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

I'm thinking he was 29 or 30 when he set the WR in '91, and that was pretty much the end of his elite sprinting...

Well coachd is pretty good ... Ngeny is the fastest ever teen miler ... But you were supposed to give the time ...
Privalova was the sprint tripler .. In the 94 World Cup she won the 100 & 400 and took 2nd in the 200 !!!!
And no one as yet has specifically named the oldest sub 10.00 ...

Drummond was a good guess ... But at 34 he misses by a year ... And for Paul's question I believe the answer would be one Payton Jordan ...
