For previous incarnations of the Run-Down Fantasy T&F League, I've used the IAAF rankings for the previous year as the basis of the athlete lists. It appears the IAAF no longer has those rankings available...
http://www.iaaf.org/worldrankings/index.html
The Full Rankings links at the bottom of the page seem to be just '07 year-to-date info, as opposed to '06 season end. That's what the dates indicate, and as an example, Xavier Carter is not listed in the 200m.
Anyone see the correct lists hiding anywhere on the site?

I don't think so, but thanks... Those are just the performance lists, not the year-end points rankings. The points rankings are necessary for building my lists of athlete pricing for roster selections.

This is the link to the IAAF ratings. I believe the reason Xavier Carter is not listed in the 200 is because he doesn't have enough races. Most of his were before June of last year, those are now removed from the ranking, since they only consider a one year span of races in the rankings. He only ran 4 - 200's after June last year and hasn't run one this year. He is however ranked 40th in the top 100 overall, so hopefully this will help. |

I'm pretty sure that's just '07 rankings... They have a date range that indicates '07-only.

No, they are the rankings done from June 2006 - May 2007. May is in () because the date May 28th, 2007 is the last day they updated it. If you click on one of the athletes you will see their ranked races. Asafa's and Xavier's for example are all from 2006. IAAF ranks the athletes by their best 5 races over a year period. So, currently Asafa's and Xavier's 2007 races haven't been better. A race result then falls off their ranking once a year goes by. Why you will not see any May 2006 races listed.

Well, either way, that isn't a year-end ranking like they used to post... Maybe I just got lucky previously and downloaded the rankings before current year stuff was added, but I don't think so, since spring performances should have shown up here and there.
AM_Runner got the right stuff straight from the source, but it's the PDF version (as opposed to text files), which is still useless... I can't copy stuff out of there to process the lists. I'll follow up with the email address it was forwarded from.

I'm awaiting a response... I thought you had come through big time, too, but not being able to copy anything out of the files was a downer. Not only is PDF text copying very unreliable, these files actually have text selection blocked.
Swoosher, if you think you can come up with something, that would be cool. It's not too late for the main European meets, and that forms the bulk of the Fantasy schedule.

Dan - I can only get the top 20 in each event, based on the rankings as of 18/12/2006. Here is the 200m list. Not sure it really helps you as you would need the rankings to go deeper than the top 20 I assume?
