Well, that's depressing. I've got Sinclair and Webb. I can't wait to see what they fill out the fields with...

We've got results...
http://run-down.com/fantasy/index.php?go=full_results
Someone remind me to leave Rieti off of next year's Fantasy schedule. I only see 5 scores over 500 this meet, with the 2 highest being in the 700's. Pitiful. In the men's 3k (converted to 5k), there was only one athlete even on last year's top-100 list competing...
It was so bad, I scored only 250 points and didn't slide any spots! Anyone that scored more than 400 moved up...

No Rieti sucked !!!! I just now came over ot check and see how I did the meet was so bad !!!! This will have to be replaced next year .... though there were some decent marks turned in ... Among them a sub10 and the year's first sub 1:44 !!! But just not enough athletes showing up .... The facilities are good, but the meet just isn't attracting the athletes ... _________________ Conway

Micah, has it occurred to you that maybe the success of your team is inversely proportional to the quality of the meet?

Men's 100:
1 Zakari Aziz GHA 9.99
2 Gay Tyson USA 10.08
3 Gardener Jason GBR 10.09
4 Thomas Dwight JAM 10.10
5 Obikwelu Francis POR 10.12
6 Collins Kim SKN 10.16
7 Emedolu Uchenna NGR 10.27
8 Collio Simone ITA 10.33
One decent time and the rest pretty pitiful.
Men's 800:
1 Bungei Wilfred KEN 1:43.70
2 Reina Antonio Manuel ESP 1:44.18
3 McIlroy James GBR 1:44.65
4 Lacasse Florent FRA 1:45.38
5 Chehibi Mouhssin MAR 1:45.49
6 Saïd-Guerni Djabir ALG 1:46.53
7 Longo Andrea ITA 1:47.14
8 Peterson Derrick USA 1:47.23
Yawn... Has the event gotten so dull that we're to consider a barely sub-1:44 exciting? Only 5 guys under 1:46?! I've seen a barely pro US athlete run faster than 6th place on a heavily flooded track...
Men's 1500? Other than Lagat up front finally giving us a sub-3:30 (barely), it was a very run of the mill race behind him.
The women's 1500 was pretty hot, I'll grant you that. The men's vault numbers look decent (I know anything over 5.80 is good), but they're in metric only, so they mean just about nothing to me... Competitive but not spectacular men's 400h. And regardless, none of those are Fantasy events, so they aren't really relevant.

We may want to consider using the years global championship (whatever that is in any given year) as the culmination of our season ... And scheudle the season around that ... Meaning that this year we would have had to have more meets early in the schedule ...
Seems that no matter when the BIG meet is, that the season tails off once it is over ... Too bad that the powers that be just don't scheule these things for the beginning of September !!! But they don't so we may have to use that meet each year as the benchmark for our season ....
Just a thought ... _________________ Conway

That's an interesting suggestion, but I'm not sure if we can come up with enough quality meets prior to the start of the GL circuit. We could of course add Pre and ignore the concern that it's too dominated by US athletes, but how many others are there that are any better than these post-championship meets?

Well Pre is usually a good meet and as far as I know a lot of Nike athletes regardless of where they are from usually are contractually obligated to come - so its not so bad...
but Dan you are gonna have to get the stuff done earlier then... _________________ The long run is what puts the tiger in the cat. |
