Well ... Here it is the end of the year ... Must be time to start the indoor season in a few weeks !!!!!
I think this year there is going to be more participation from top athletes ... Many had disppointing seasons last year and will need to use the indoor season to gague their fitness levels and work on technical aspects of competition ... I expect to see a lot of sprinters and hurdlers hitting the hardwood and wouldn't be surprised to see some middle distance people run several races !!!!
Any thoughts ??? _________________ Conway

Last year Krummenacker had a pretty good indoor season. I don't think he'll run as much this year after a pretty long season in Europe, but I could be wrong. I do think Teeter, who also ran well indoors will run some indoor races, because (at least if my memory serves) she had her outdoor season either end early or rather curtailed by nagging injuries late last year. _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

I can never make much sense of who chooses to run Indoors and who stays home... My one prediction is we won't see much of the Trevor Graham crew.

We won't see Marion but I think we'll see Tim ... HE is obsessed with the fact that if he had a better start he would put the record out of site (He fails to understand he had his perfect race already) ... He'll be there ... _________________ Conway

Or at least fails to admit it to himself. I've never met an athlete worth beans that didn't lie to themselves about stuff like that. If I can improve my start... if I increase my mileage... if I improve my speed.... I know I did (and still do) lie to myself about what I could accomplish, neat thing is when you do that sometimes you can even surprise yourself. Heck, Conway I'd be willing to bet at your peak you said plenty of that I haven't ran the perfect race yet stuff too. _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

I see Tim having a bit of the "fear of losing" thing going now that he's sort of the man to beat. Remember the sore feet and joints excuse the meet after the record run...? Not much payoff (I would think) to risking the favorite status Indoor.

Over the past year or possibly more (I never paid that much attention to sprinters before I started posting on this board) Timmy has been the biggest head case in mens sprinting. As much as I would like to think otherwise I get the feeling that won't change. Particularly now that he's traded Mo's shadow for that of his girl friend. They used to say that Reggie Miller was the only player in the NBA who could get taken to school by his sister, well Timmy's got that sort of a situation going on now with Marion. And I don't think it will help his confidence dating a bigger star than he is in his own sport. _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

Marion was aparently too big for CJ, and that's saying something! Dem's some big shoes to fill for poor ol' achin' feet Timmy.

DG I STILL haven't run my perfect race !!!! LOL ... You are right on that count ... Dan I think that Tim is going to approach things just the opposite ... He's going to want to prove that he is the MAN !!!! And THAT is going to lead to many defeats !!! _________________ Conway

The new Golden Spike tour schedule has been annouced. There will be four meets total, two meets in Boston one on Feb 1 and then the US national meet March 1-2. The other two meets are the Millrose Games Feb 7th and a meet in Fayetteville, AK Feb 15th. Perhaps it was that all these meets are televised or that last year there was a Golden Spike meet at NU but aren't there usually more meets in this tour?
Too bad they aren't coming back to Nebraska, although I imagine that just like last year I would have to miss it for one of my teams meets. Last year there was a pretty nasty winter storm that hit the area during the meet, even knocked out power to the Duvany Center (NU's indoor sports facility) for a while. It must have scared them off _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

That looks like a pretty full Indoor schedule.

Please DG...tell me it ain't so. Born and raised in Aztec, NM--where no matter which way you run, it's all uphill, denizen of the mountains and lover of runs ending at 8000 feet and above...a "cornhusker"? |

I'm certainly no cornhusker. I was talking about NU hosting USATF meets. Heck I have to becareful who I talk to during football season because I'm no fan of Big Red Football. _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |
